Vintage Style Pocket Letter with Lots of Acrylic Techniques | CraftyPaws

I have been wanting to complete the acrylic ATCs that I started in my Clear Scraps ATC class that I took at the Scrapbook Expo a couple weeks ago. Finally, not only did I finish them all, but add them to a vintage style pocket letter for a special crafty friend (it’s a surprise; she doesn’t know it’s for her!).

20150802_214037I did some alcohol inking and stamping in aqua and silver, alcohol resist in RUST alcohol ink and Ranger Archival Ink, white Staz-On stamping, dry embossing and inking with black Staz-On ink, and stenciling with Viva Decor Modellier Creme in Champagne on the five acrylic bases (techniques listed in order of left to right, top to bottom).  I then had loads of fun using Zip Dry solvent adhesive to glue on crochet trim, cork paper, remnant pearl strand snippet, scraps of inked papers and word cut outs, mulberry paper flowers, burlap snippets, and even a vintage image from an old magazine!  I also enjoyed adding loads of METAL pieces like antique colored paper clips, label holders (as frames), and metal loops with different brads.

For the paper based cards, I used one 8″ x 8″ piece of gorgeous twisted harlequin patterned paper from the Marion Smith “Mad Tea Party” collection. I used snippets of other papers like the image of the lady in a TOP HAT from the Graphic 45 “Steampunk Spells” collection, a tiny left-over burlap piece, twine and sequin trim, and lace to fill in where the 8″ x 8″ paper was not quite enough to make the cards for the 4 additional pockets.

20150802_213951Then again, I just went to town adding a METAL key hole, a compass coin, and a couple of ring fasteners, all from the Tim Holtz idea-ology collection. I also picked pieces from my stash, like the heart-shaped glass bottle that I filled with tiny star and heart confetti and the antique bronze sentiment embellishments that I thought went well with the images or colors in the papers I used.

To finish off the selvage, I used a bit of Tim Holtz tissue tape and then added metal framed charms that coordinated with the colors I had used in the pockets. To add a little softness and carry through the ocean blue colors that pops up throughout the pocket letter in the papers, flowers and background papers, I tied sheer teal bows at each of the holes where the charms were attached.

The following is a video share of this pocket letter:
