This card is for Emily, who is a six year old girl battling cancer for the past two years. Ā Jennifer McGuire is hosting a challenge for her and Xander (for whom I made the card I posted yesterday HERE) so that they can be showered with handmade cards made with love.
I made this card taking into account that Emily likes animals, the outdoors and dark pink. I used an adorable stamp called Bunch of Balloons from Wild Rose Studio (How fun and joyful is a baby elephant floating up with a bunch of balloons, right?!), the Pretty Pink Posh Peek-A-Boo die, paper from the Carta Bella “Words of Love” collection, and some dark red satin ribbon.
As Emily is just starting to learn how to read, I also wrote a little note inside saying, “Just popping up to say hi.” and “Things are looking up in the new year.” Emily’s parents are going to give her the cards sheĀ receives as they see fit over time, and I thought this would be a joyfulĀ new years card for a six year old.
I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean for the sky peeking through the opening and the following Copic colorsĀ to color up the stamped image:
Elephant: W1, 3, 5, and R30 and 20
Dark pink balloon: RV52, 55 and 66
Green balloons: G000 and 00
Blue balloons: G000 and 00
Pink balloons: V000 and 01
Purple balloon: BV01 and 02
Yellow balloons: Y000 and 11
I also coated some balloons with Glossy Accents and others with glitter glue for sparkle and shine.
The following is a video showing the start to finish process of making this card:
