TGF Mermaid Anya Summer Scene Card | CraftyPaws

I have been wanting to color up this free Mermaid Anya digi that I received from The Greeting Farm when I signed up for their free e-newsletter.  So when I saw Marie Gamber’s coloring video of a mermaid using the most beautiful Copic color combination and dot coloring technique, I knew I had to give it a try.

The following are the Copic colors I used:
Skin: E000, 00, 11, 13 and R11 blush
Hair: E97, 99, and 29
Starfish barrettes: Y11, YR31, YR24 and E97
Mermaid body: G00, G02, B14 and B18

I also used a Sakura white Gelly Roll pen to add white dotting highlights to the mermaid body and starfish barrettes. To add a bit of magical shimmer (LOL), I also covered the mermaid’s body and tail with clear Wink of Stella.

For the ocean, I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass, Broken China, and Seedless Preserves (for the horizon line).  I used a torn piece of scrap paper as a kind of mask and inked layer after layer of Tumbled Glass to create the look of a sky filled with soft white clouds (this was a technique I have used before, but using a torn paper edge rather than a cartoony style puffy cloud edge is a twist that I recently learned from Jamie (YT: Scrappin Stampers) in THIS Video.

For a little Prim fun, I also added four yellow buttons and some yellow satin ribbon to make a little sun in the sky. I used yellow and white baker’s twine to go through the button holes (I have a thing about not leaving buttons looking bare) and then just hot glued them into place.

This is the video share of this project:

This card is also being entered into the following challenges:
The Greeting Farm Fresh Buttons Challenge
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Anything Goes Challenge
613 Avenue Create Anything Goes w/ optional twist of the Sights Sounds Taste of Summer Challenge

Thanks for stopping by and hope you’re have a wonderful crafty day! WOOF
