Textured, Dimensional and Flocked Fun Fold CAS Card | CraftyPaws

I recently picked up some Inkadinkado Flocking Powder that I wanted to play with so I picked out this beautiful Penny Black Fashion Leader girl and dog stamp that had a damask pattern that I thought would be fun to flock. Now I’d never worked with flocking powder before so I had a couple of failed attempts trying it with Art Glitter Glue and a fine tip nozzle and a VersaMarkIMG_20160720_0002er before I ended up painting on some Tombow Aqua Mono Liquid Glue onto the stamp and stamping that onto the already stamped image. I know there are glue ink pads available for this, but I didn’t have any, and I wanted to see if I could make this work with things I already had in my stash. And this worked great!

20160720_104439For the card base, I hand cut and folded up a center step card (see photo at left for dimensions). I wanted to create a CAS scene card but still add texture. So I used the Tim Holtz Bricked stencil to mask off the two side panels and most of the center panel and applied a mixture of ArtDeco Dimensional Effects Paintable Texture Paste and Folk Art Extreme Glitter Acrylic Paint in Hologram.  This kept everything white while adding sparkle and a rough texture.

I did a minimal amount of Copic coloring, just enough to add depth but keeping everything monochromatic:
Shopping bags and hair: C0, 3, 4, 6, and 7
Skin and fur of dog: W0, 1 and 5

To ground the card, I used a few strips of washi tape, and to capture the attitude of the scene, I drew little thought bubbles with the sentiment, “Life is good!”

The following is a tutorial video of how I made this card, with particular attention to using flocking powder and how to use a mask or stencil:
