Super Cute and Quick Candy Wrappers and Tag | CraftyPaws

My dear crafty friend Tina (YT: The Scrappin Rabbit) asked me to join her in a Cute Critters Collab Challenge with a Halloween theme. She sent me an awesome collab package that included die cut cute critters of pups and a witchy Hello Kitty, bottles of gems and sequin mixes, a coffin-filled with crafty yumminess and so much more! If you’re interested in seeing everything (which is similar to the challenge prize), CLICK the picture below to watch the video reveal:

From all the goodies, I made a tag, a slim line scene card, and two Lily’s chocolate bar (these are sugar free and sweetened with Stevia so perfect for our Keto lifestyle) candy wrappers. The card, I’ll post about in a follow up post because I didn’t want to make this post and accompanying video too long. In this post I’ll share everything I used to craft the cute tag and candy wrappers.

For the candy wrappers, I let the die cut and assembled Hello Kitty and Dachshund lead the color story. I added slight shading to give dimension with a few key Copics (for the purple, I used V15, for the brown, I used E13, and for the orange I used YR04). Then I chose some patterned papers from the DCWV Pets & Pumpkins 6″ x 6″ stack (50% off at Joann at the time of this writing) based on the purple details of the Hello Kitty and the orange and brown of the Dachshund.

I also got to use up some black and orange polka dot papers from my scrap box. For the toppers, I used the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Borders 2 Die Set, framing the bottom edge with black scrap paper using the same die. The Hello Kitty wrapper uses purple backed pet skeleton papers, the B side of which is a purple foiled spider web print. The Dachshund wrapper uses cute masked critters that had some orange/brown jack-0-lantern goody bags and masked kitties, puppies and bunnies.

For some added pizzazz I also glued on an odd number (more pleasing to my eye than even numbers) of black, clear, and orange gems (from the collab package potion bottle) as well as some Studio G self-adhesive black gems (these were smaller and added balance). To add a little detail, I doodled on a fish skeleton onto Hello Kitty’s goody bag with a Sakura Black Glaze Pen.

For the tag, I finally got to use an old Waffle Flower Floss Bobbins Die Set that has always reminded me of bones as the base of the tag.  For the grassy foreground, I used the MFT Grassy Hillside Die Set with some patterned green paper from my scrap box, and inked the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Peeled Paint. For the background, I picked a iridescent silver and white bone and polka dot patterned paper from the DCWV stack.

For the featured decorative element, I added the costumed pup from my collab package and his a jack-o-lanterned goody bag filled with bones (to which I added shine with Ranger Glossy Accents). The “Trick or Treat” sentiment and the glittered bats were more die cuts from my collab package. Lastly, I added a tassel and bow made from the Dollar Tree Floral Garden Sheer Ribbon and re-used the orange and black fringed ribbon that Tina had used to keep closed the coffin-shaped goody box from my collab package.
