St. Patty’s Day Card for Hubby | CraftyPaws

When I was having a bit of a rough day earlier in the week, my hubby’s super encouraging and supportive words made everything seem all right. It reminded me that I should tell HIM how much I love him more often. So I took another shot with the C.C. Designs Irish Emma and made a St. Patty’s/Valentines card for him.

I created a puffy cloud background with some inks and a homemade stencil, and I used the Diemond Dies circle nesting die set to make a rainbow (look HERE for the details). I added great shimmer to the rainbow with clear Wink of Stella. When I adhered the rainbow to the card base, I decided to have the tops of the rainbow rings come off the page to emphasize them more, creating a kind of shaped card.

Then for the sentiment that reads, “Lucky me to be in LOVE with you”, I downloaded a free Irish-style font called EasyLombardic Two and printed out the sentiment in green, blue and black.  I was careful to leave enough room around the various words and phrases so that I could use three different sized Fiskars cloud punches to punch out the sentiment. I inked the edges of the clouds with a pale blue so that the clouds would stand out.

20150311_085812For the ground, I picked out various washi tapes from my stash in stripes, polka dots and zig zags in greens, teals, and blacks/greys. I laid them down in strips of varying widths, cutting some down as I thought looked best.

I colored up the cute little C. C. Designs image to be Black Irish (or Asian Irish – LOL). I used the following Copic colors and a silver metallic Gelly Roll pen to add some details:
Skin: E50, 51, 53 with Blush: R30
Hair: C7, C9 and B32
Black parts of dress: C7 and 9
Blue parts of dress and shoes: B06, 24 and 29
Socks: C1 and colorless blender 0

20150311_112121To add more touches of love, I die cut and punched out hearts with the Diemond Dies hearts nesting die set and an EK Tools punch from red card stock (which I shimmered up with clear Wink of Stella). I used up some scraps to line the inside of the card with some pale blue paper and a small circle patterned paper, which I cut with the largest heart die.

Lastly, I made a gold metallic four leaf clover embellishment for the back of the card by cutting out four hearts using the smallest heart die. I hand cut a little stem, which I scored with a bone folder to create the impression that the stem could have been die cut too.  🙂

The following is a video share of this card:
