Spooktacular Cuties Banner! | CraftyPaws

I’m so excited to be part of the Seasons of Fall YouTube Hop! Each participant had the option of doing Thanksgiving or Halloween projects, and I chose Halloween. I immediately fell in LOVE with these C.C. Designs adorable kiddies dressed up in Halloween costumes from the C.C. Designs Monster Mash and Creepy Crawlies (retired) Stamp Sets, but haven’t had a chance to ink them up (and they were released in 2016! – oh the shame!).

So the first thing I did was Copic color up all the kids, starting with the skin and hair. I did them in two batches, repeating the little witch because I wanted to try her with two different skin tones.
C.C. Designs Monster Mash: Skin: E000, E00, E01, R20 for blush, W5 for inside mouth, and R35 for tongues
Mummy: W0, W1, W3 Y21; and YR31, YR21 and YR24 for hair
Dracula: C0, C6, C7, C9, C10, Y17, R35, R39; and E55, E57 and E59 for hair
Witch: V12, V06, V15, V09; Y26, YR24, C7 and C9 for boots; Y26, YR24, E57 and E59 for broom; and B01, C4, C6, C8 and C9 for hair
Witch with Green Skin: same as above, except skin is: G20, G40, and G43

C.C. Designs Creepy Crawlies: Skin: E50, E51, E53, R20 for blush, W5 for inside mouth, and R35 for tongues
Skeleton: N0, N5, N7 and N9; YR31, YR21, YR24, and E59 for hair
Taruntula: W0, YR04, YR07, W7, W9; E97, E99, E29 and R35 for hair
Bat: R30 ears, B41, B91, BV20, BV23, BV25; YR31, YR21, YR24, and E57 for hair

Then I fussy cut them all out using my favorite Fiskars Reverse Spring Loaded Scissors and inked the edges with a Momento Tuxedo Black Marker for a clean finished look. For a day or so I was a bit stumped as to what to do with all these cuties until I decided to just mount them on some tags; they can now be used for gift tags or strung together they can form a festive Halloween banner! I used the Diemond Dies Nesting Tags Die Set to cut up some cream, black and patterned papers are from an old American Crafts Night Fall paper stack to create layered tags.

To create proper reinforced holes at the tops of all the tag/pennants, I used my We R Memory Keepers Crop-A-Dile Tool and some We R Memory Keepers Standard 3/16″ Eyelets in gunmetal (for the black matted tags) and gold (for the cream matted tags). To embellish the tags/pennants, I used my trusty Craft-Dee-BowZ Tool to make cream seam binding and black lace double loop bows, poking metal Halloween brads from the Little Yellow Bicycle “Frightful Collection” through the centers. Then I popped up all the costumed cuties onto the tags with thick foam dots for some dimension.

To create the tag hanging loops and the streamer base for the banner, I used left over cream seam binding, black lace, black and orange baker’s twine, and black and white baker’s twine. I really like the gathered/collected look and the added texture these pieces lend the project. Lastly, I added some champagne and orange gems to the cream-backed tags and some black and silver glittered enamel dots to the black-backed tags to add some sparkle, shine and magic.
