As many of you know, my brother is very ill with kidney failure. This situation has shown some people to react with self-interest, but others with incredible kindness. Some of the people that have stood out in courageous kindness (yes, a reference to the wonderful quote from Disney’s Cinderella that you can find HERE) are my sister-in-law and her husband.
They have been supportive, encouraging, and, best of all, have reconnected with me and my hubby in a wonderful way. To show my appreciation, I created Halloween tags for their three children (shared HERE), and the multi-layered floral card shown in this post for them. I also knit a scarf and hat for each of my sister-in-law’s family members. I am a slow and beginner knitter so these are simple, but they were made with lots of love. 🙂
I received a variety of decoupage images from a wonderful crafty friend from the Netherlands (YT: Jane Nielsen). All it takes is a LOT of fussy cutting, and then adhering the various layers to build up a fun 3D look. After building up the layers of the image, it’s just a matter of adhering it to a card base and some extra image-framing layers. Bonus: I got a chance to use up 4 scraps from my scrap box making this card too! 🙂
Note: This 3D look is something you can easily replicate if you have multiple copies of the same image (think Dollar Tree children’s books with great images). You can simply just cut out portions of the image and layer them using some double sided foam tape. Simple, yet beautiful results!
