A super sweet crafty friend of mine, Candy (YT: Candy Tigs) is hosting a challenge asking folks to make uplifting cards for her sister who is battling cancer. According to Candy, her sister is a real “girly girl” so I thought this adorable Wryn from the Tiddly Inks stamp set called Friends Are Flowers would be perfect to make a sweet, feminine card.
I colored Wryn up with the following Copic colors and then fussy cut her out with a small white border:
Skin: E01, E11, E13 and R20
Hair: E55, 57 and 59
Shoes and striped shirt: C0, 1, 3, 5, 9
Pot of heart flowers: R81, 85, and 89
I paper pieced her dress with a red and pink floral sheet from the “lovebirds” Doodlebug Design collection and used C0, 3, and 5 to creates some depth and shadow.
I started with a plain white card stock for the card front, and I sprayed it with some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Viva Pink and also took the cap off to sprinkle some of it in areas where I wanted to add a little extra visual interest.
Then I got out some of my favorite Diemond Dies: Top Note Labels 2, Swirly Flourish (from the new release), and Nesting Tag Die Set to build up some layers, using up the rest of that adorable 6×6 Doodlebug Designs paper for the tag and the reverse side of the paper for the matting on the top note backing for Wryn. I cut the swirls and the base top note out of plain white card stock so that it could give the eye a place to rest. But then I thought the top note base was too plain so I brought out my Simon Says Stamp Heart Parade die and cut out a section of it to add a little extra layer.

For the inside of the card, I used the super sweet sentiment and heart ornament from the My Favorite Things stamp set “You Have My Heart” and paper pieced the little heart with a tiny scrap of the Doodlebug paper (I had just enough and it makes my heart sing when things match! LOL). Because I had some bits of the Heart Parade die cut hearts left over, I cut apart a couple of them and some of the heart interiors to add a few hearts to the corners.
Lastly I added a new Spare Parts fabric covered brad at the top of the tag and a few clear sequins around the edges of the cluster as finishing touches. I don’t think I’ve made a card in a while without those types of little extras. LOL
