Ok, I know, we haven’t even passed Mother’s Day and I am sharing Father’s Day cards. š Ā I just received my design team package from Diemond Dies yesterday and I couldn’t wait to play with some of their new dies!
These cards are made using the new Skeleton Leaf Die along with some of their most versatile/useful nesting dies: the Nesting Tag Die Set and the Labels 2 Top Note Die Set. Ā I went for a kind of “Rustic Resort” feeling for these cards and thought they would be great to have ready for my hubby (yes, he’s the father of our fur babies-bwah ha ha ha), father and father-in-law for Father’s Day.

I used Recollections corrugated card bases to start, and I loosely painted them with watered down white acrylic paint. I further distressed the base just by rubbing the half wet paint with tissue. Then I started layering some frayed burlap, some tulle netting, some twine on one card and crocheted trim on the other card.
For the cards with the twine, I also stamped out a Happy Father’s Day sentiment from the C.C. Designs “My Guy” stamp set with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Antique Photo, which I also used to ink the edges of the tag I die cut around the sentiment.
For the card with the twine without the tulle, I also added a handful of wooden dots from Teresa Collins as well as a little soft seam binding triple loop bow. I think adding more hard and soft itemsĀ like this helped make this monochromatic card more luxe and not boring.
For the card with the crocheted trim, I tied a pretty double loop bow using my Craft-Dee BowZ tool and hot glued that down over top of the tulle trim. With that pretty (but still masculine given the neutral colors) addition, there was no room for the sentiment so I used my computer to print out the same sentiment on card stock and die cut out a label for the inside message.
The following is a video tutorial of how to make this card start-to-finish:
