Farmhouse Chic Upcycled Puppy Love Jars | CraftyPaws

As part of the “Mason Jar Love YouTube Hop” (going live at 11 am ET today, Saturday, September 28, 2019) I decided to actually use baby food jars (I love upcycling, and these are left overs from making homemade dog treats) to make four little votive holders or bud vases in the shabby chic or rustic farmhouse style. And to make it CraftyPaws style, I featured a sweet little puppy that I colored up to look like my Bandito as the focal point for each jar!

I stamped out all the pups that looked like my Bandito from the Winnie & Walter “Dog-gone Cute with Evelin T Designs Stamp Set in Memento Desert Sand to create soft no-line colored looks. I added back in details for the eyes and noses with a Black Copic Multi-liner Pen in 0.1 pt.

Then I used the following Copic colors to color them all up:
Brown areas of puppy: E11, E13, E15 and E18
Pink belly and inside ears: E000
White areas of puppy: E40, W2 and W3

I also softened each puppy and gave them more of a furry textured look with a Prismacolor white colored pencil.  Lastly I fussy cut each pup out with my favorite Fiskars Reverse Spring Loaded Scissors.

I used four baby food jars and picked out from my 2 drawers of trims, laces, burlap fabric, burlap wired ribbons, crocheted doilies, and satin ribbons a sampling of crafty goodies that I thought would coordinate well together and help me create a modern farmhouse look.

Each finished jar is unique, with different combinations of trims hot glued around them. However, they all have the same doilies as backdrops for each puppy, and they all share the same color palette of white, cream, beige and hints of pale blues and greens. I wanted them to look like a set, without making them too “matchy-matchy” (which is my normal tendency – LOL).
