Primitive/CAS Thank You Card | CraftyPaws

I recently bought a destash stamp lot from my friend Bev (YT: NewCrafterBev) who is giving up coloring detailed image stamps.  Bev was so sweet as to include this extra bonus stamp by Lacy Sunshine called “Willow’s Butterfly Friend,” and as she said she loved this image, I thought I would color it up and make a thank you card with it for her.

20160723_162311I stamped out the image with my favorite MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink and used the following Copic colors to color up this cutie:

Hair: Y11, E55, 57 and 59
Skin: E000, 00, 11 and R20 for blush
Light blues in clothes (T-shirt, elbow patch on cardigan, and headband): B00 and 01
Medium blues in jeans: B21, 93 and 14
Dark blues in clothes (cardigan and headband): B34, 37 and 39
Red sneakers, red parts of butterfly and flower in headband: R22, 24 and 29
Yellow in butterfly and flower in headband: Y11
Eyes: B01, 21 and 37 with White Sakura Gelly Roll Pen highlights
Willow’s wings (is she supposed to be a kind of ragamuffin fairy?): B000 with Clear Star Sakura Gelly Roll Pen over top for magical sparkle

20160723_161919-1To cut out the image and add some faux stitching detail, I used the largest of the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Squared Die Set and inked around the edges and blended in some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tea Dye.

For the card front, I used Versa Mark Ink with the Lawn Fawn Woodgrain Backdrops background stamp and clear embossing powder on kraft card stock. I love the way the clear shows up tone on tone on kraft and somehow adding that subtle texture makes it more special. To add a little more rough texture I used a scrap of burlap card stock and cut it into a fishtail banner and used another scrap of dark and light blue polka dot paper to create a reverse fishtail banner. For the sentiment across the front, I didn’t want to cover up the image too much so I cut a double sided fishtail banner from vellum and die cut the “Thanks” using a Die Versions Thanks word die to glue on top.
