Because I have moved around the country and lived abroad several times, I don’t really a lot of old friends. The one exception to this is my best high school friend who has also moved around a ton, and somehow we’ve managed to stay in touch. We don’t talk every week or even every month, but when we do talk, it’s like no time has passed at all. Her birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks so I wanted to create a handmade card to show her I was thinking of her.
When we were young, we used to have pajama party sleepovers, and I know she is a total coffee fiend so I thought The Greeting Farm Snuddle Anya would be perfect for this card. I stamped her out with Desert Sand Momento Ink so I could also practice no-line coloring. Â The following are the Copic colors I used (except where I indicated a different type of marker):
Hair: E53, E35, V06 and E29 with Tim Holtz Distress Marker in Gathered Twigs for added strand details
Skin: E000, 00, 21 and 11 with R20 blush
Shirt: C4, 6, 7
Shorts: E35 and 37 with Copic multiliner pen in 0.03 for circle pattern details
Bunny slippers: W1, E35, RV52, RV55, RV66 and R20 with Tim Holtz Distress Marker in Gathered Twigs for details
Cup and barrett: RV52, 55 and 66
Book: C5 and Tim Holtz Distress Marker in Faded Jeans for page details
For the background, I used the Tim Holtz Doily Stencil and Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry to create an ombre look of soft but fun party confetti (our sleepovers were tame by today’s standards, but they were “wild nights” for us when we were young–LOL).
The sentiments on the card front and inside are both from the My Favorite Things “LLD Stay Cool” stamp set. For the front sentiment that says, “Being Your Friend Has Its Perks,” I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Picked Raspberry (stamping it multiple times with my Mini MISTI to get a solid impression) and then stamped it again with embossing ink to coat with clear embossing powder. Then to create a finished border where the white panel would meet the kraft card base on the right, I used the matching Picked Raspberry Distress Marker to color up a strip of a white card stock scrap and embossed that too. I love the shine and perfectly matched look of all the heat embossed areas. 😛 (What can I say, I am a matchy matchy girl!)
For the inside sentiment that says, “Sending You A Latte Birthday Wishes,” I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Vintage Photo (again stamping it multiple times with my Mini MISTI to get a solid impression). Then I rummaged through my scrap box and found a striped patterned paper scrap that seemed to match the colors I used to color up the Snuddle Anya so I hand cut a bit of that paper into fishtail banners to add a little decoration.  The last touches to the card were adding a few pink sequins from my stash and a couple of Pretty Pink Posh clear droplets in 4MM and 6MM sizes.
