In helping my dad with some office work, I was lucky enough to stumble across a couple of Rolodex holders filled with cards. I have been watching some fabulous, really talented folks on YT work on Rolodex cards for months, and now I can join in on the fun.

I approached this Rolodex card like a mini art journal page.  🙂  I covered the front and back with a little scrap of napkin using matte medium and distressed the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in antique photo. Then I glued down a very delicate cardinal die that was gifted to me by my crafty friend, Julie (YT: Thriftypapergarden).  To make the cardinal pop, I used the fine tip end of a Tim Holtz Distress Marker in festive berries and used quick short strokes to create some visual texture. To create some low lights I also added some black with a black Copic multiliner pen in 0.3 width.

While I don’t really like my hand writing, I thought this card needed a little more of a hand crafted feeling so I threw caution to the wind and wrote down this lovely quote from Maya Angelou, “A bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.”

The last additions were “berries” of gold Stickles to add some sparkle and dimension. The following is a video share of this Rolodex card:
