Let the Fairy In You Fly Postcard | CraftyPaws

I started this mixed media postcard with a super vibrant watercolor card base that my friend Rosa Aquino had sent me recently. The rich blues and the bleached out butterfly image seemed to evoke a magical feeling that I wanted to build on to make this fairy postcard.

20150925_182548I used a Tim Holtz Doily Stencil and some Scribbles 3D Fabric Paint in the color crystal gel to add some sparkly texture to the background. Then I took my time and fussy cut out a whole bunch of flowers from an old sheet of the Basic Grey “Fresh Cuts” collection and a couple of fairies from the KaiserCraft “Enchanted Garden” collection.

I used matt Mod Podge as well as some well placed double sided foam adhesive to assemble everything onto the postcard base. I wanted it to look like the fairies were flying through an abundant flower garden. I then went back into the fairy wings with Studio G blue glitter glue to add some magical sparkle and shimmer. 🙂

Lastly, I had fun with some Flower Soft.  I used Art Glitter Glue (which dries clear) with a fine tip nozzle to draw in where I wanted to add the fuzzy texture of the Raspberry Flower Soft and then just sprinkled and patted it all into place.

For the back of the postcard, I printed out a label on my computer, adding the quote at the bottom (the way postcards often have a description of the postcard image): “Magic Happens: Spread your wings and let the fairy in you fly!”  Doesn’t that quote make you smile? LOL

The following is a process video for this postcard:
