I am so excited to be a guest design team member for Little Blue Button Stamps (LBBS)! Olga’s stamps are adorable and have such great attitude!
The minute I saw this new digi stamp, Sassy Charlie, with her contemplative look and her finger poised by her lips, I knew I wanted to make an Austin Powers inspired layout (yes, I know Dr. Evil used his pinky). I am a bit of an Anglophile and I thought the wild and retro vibe would make a super fun project.
I colored up Sassy Charlie’s dress with a Union Jack motif and found an old paper from the DCWV “tie-dyed stack” collection that made a great psychedelic background. I downloaded a free 70s font and used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the “Get Your Mojo Goin'” sentiment 3 times (I stacked the 3 layers to create a Thickers kind of substantial look) from black card stock. I put a layer of Glossy Accents
over top of the letters so they have a great shine too.
To add a groovy feeling, I added some Maya Road Velvet Blossoms in yellow and red, aligning the flower colors with the tie-dye background paper colors. The flower centers seemed a little empty so I glued in black flat back pearls to all of the medium and large flower centers and used black fabric paint for the small flower centers. Lastly, to add some sparkly fun, I used some holographic star/diamond stickers along the red areas of the tie-dyed background.
I used a White Sakura Gelly Roll Pen to sharpen up the white areas of Sassy Charlie’s Union Jack bodice and the following Copic colors to color her up:
Hair: C7, C9, B32
Skin: E000, E00, E11
Eyeshadow: B00 + clear Wink of Stella
Headband and red dress areas: R14 and R08
Blue dress areas and eyes: B24, and B29
Shoes: C7 and C9
White shadow areas of sleeves and shoe pom poms: C1
