“Kindergarten Cop” Inspired Card with The Greeting Farm’s Tuesday | CraftyPaws

I have “known” this crafty friend and her daughter almost since the first day I started sharing my crafting on YouTube. So I know her daughter loves princesses, her favorite color is purple, and she just started kindergarten. Ā So to send them a surprise little happy mail, I thought I would create a card inspired by that adorable scene in the movie “Kindergarten Cop” where the little girl, Emma, defiantly and so adorably runs around yelling, “I’m not a policeman. I’m a princess!”

I picked out the super cute and full of attitude Tuesday from The Greeting Farm and colored her up with the following Copic colors (trying to match the coloring of my friend’s daughter):

20160918_102537-1Skin: E50, E51, E53, V20 (shadow), and R20 (blush)
Hair: E55, E57, E59 and V06 (this new-to-me color combinationĀ was scary in process, but I love the soft, warm results — see photos above)
Tutu dress and boots: V12, 15, 17 and V20 (with Clear Star Gelly Roll Pen for sparkle)
Crown: Y21, 35 and 38 (with more Clear Star Gelly Roll Pen for sparkle and topped with Glossy Accents for shine)
I fussy cut her out and inked the edges with a black Faber Castell Pitt Pen in SB point so that the white edges of the paper wouldn’t show when I popped her up on dimensional foam tape.

For the card front, I used a scrap from the American Crafts Amy Tangerine “Sketchbook” paper collection that had some swooshes of color (adding an extra swoosh or two with a finger dauber and Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Seedless P20160918_102509-1reserves). Ā For the sentiment, I printed it out from my computer using a free kid’s handwriting font called Schoolbell. Ā Then I used the Whimsy Speech Bubble Border Die to cut it out, add some more swooshes of Seedless Preserves on the edges, and popped that up on dimensional foam tape too.

Then to give this little princess something to “stand on,” I added a woodenĀ rulerĀ from 7gypsies and another strip of scrap papers from my scrap box that I combined with office staples and popped up on dimensionals to match the depth of the ruler. I had to break the ruler so that it would fit across the bottom width of the card so I used the remnant piece as a decorative element on the inside of the card along with more papers from the Amy Tangerine Sketchbook collection and some cut apart sentiments from the Teresa Collins “Hello My Name Is” paper collection. I love how the sentiment from the cut apart, “Live Life Believing Anything Is Possible” goes so well with the card and what I want to encourage my friend’s daughter to do as she embarks on her first year of school.

The following is a video share of this card:
