We put our Christmas tree up the day before Thanksgiving this year. Yes, it was very early, but due to family travel plans we decided to celebrate a day early with my family and on Thursday with my hubby’s family. I wanted to have the tree up for the dinner with my family. 🙂
Last year was the first year my hubby and I actually ever had a tree because prior to that we lived in a small apartment in NYC where there just wasn’t the space. So we started from scratch — we had zero ornaments. I decided I would fill the tree with ONLY handmade ornaments. I did a whole series (an ornament a day for 30 days!) and many crafty friends sent me beautiful ornaments as well.
So this year, it was just a matter of unpacking and selecting (I thought limiting the colors might help make the tree look a little more cohesive). I also decided to not be so rigid, and I added some soft pastel ornaments I had picked up at Michaels’ after-Christmas sale last year. The following is a video share of my tree this year (it also has a link in the drop down box to my YouTube ornament series playlist):
Today I also decided to start my first December Daily! I wasn’t thinking my holiday life would be eventful enough to merit a December Daily, but I’ve been watching so many wonderful YT videos that I was inspired/convinced to try. I’m doing a small 6×6 album and not even using pocket pages! I’m just punching a couple of holes in each page and adding it to the binder album. How easy is that?! I am loving trying something new, and so far there is no stress at all. The following is a video share of the start of my album and the December Daily numbers I made:
The cover of my December Daily is being entered into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Anything Goes Challenge and
The Simon Says Stamp Work It Wednesday Anything Goes Holiday Challenge

Your tree is so pretty! Love all of your homemade ornaments, and I love that so many of them have special meaning! Love that you have pics of your furbabies on your tree! So cute how your incorporated them into your decorations. It’s the fifth already, and I still havent’ put up the tree; my stinkers wouldn’t leave a big tree like that alone. :0 Your bead ornaments are beautiful; love the little dogs you added to them.
Really like your album also! Very creative! Hadn’t thought to make an album without protective pages. Yours looks awesome! Love the papers and embellishments you used!
Hope you’re having a great week!
