Introducing Steampunk Willy! | CraftyPaws

I had so much fun drawing this digi! I was channeling a bit of Johnny Depp from Willy Wonka so I decided to call him Steampunk Willy (he’s available HERE)! I colored him up and designed the tag (shown above), thinking of him as a member of the same faction as the Time Keeper Steampunk Barbie, but don’t worry, Ken and Barbie are just fine. 🙂

I started with a base of Steampunk Spells Graphic 45 paper (my favorite line right now).  I was lucky enough to win the main prize from a giveaway hosted by Song (YT: Creation by Song) a few weeks ago, and lots of the yummy wood and metal pieces on this tag were in that prize package. I used may Tim Holtz Alterations gear dies to cut out some paper gears, Glossy Accenting (can I use this as a verb?) some afterwards and covering some with handmade papers beforehand to add extra dimension and texture.

HINT: A great way to add a richer look to light wooden pieces is to ink up the centers with the Ranger Distress Ink antique photo and the edges with walnut, then going over the tops of them with Glossy Accents (the wooden clocks on this tag were done this way).

As for Steampunk Willy himself, I just colored him up using Copic and Chromatix markers. I wanted to add a little sparkle to him as well so I highlighted his dip dyed hair with my Gelly Roll clear star pen (which gives a similar effect to Wink of Stella). I added a little more Glossy Accents to the glass part of his goggles on his top hat, his eyes, and his boots and voila! Steampunk Willy looks fit to rule the Time Keepers. LOL
