Gnome Turned Dumbledore! Back to School Card | CraftyPaws

InĀ playing around some more with the Lawn Fawn “Gnome Sweet Gnome” stamp set, I thought about how I could “stretch” their use. I figured with a few well-placed lines I could transform the little gnome into a Lego-style cartoon version of Dumbledore from Harry Potter. What do you think?

20150814_172741These are the Copic colors I used, along with a Copic multiliner pen toĀ draw in Dumbledore’sĀ hat brim and robe.
Skin: E000, 00, 11 and R11 for blush
Clothes: R 83, 85, and 89 with W7 for shading and 100 for shoes
I also used a gold metallic Sakura Gelly Roll pen to add some dots to cover up some of the gnome’s clothes lines and add shimmer to Dumbledore’s outfit.

For the background, I usedĀ a Gothic architecture stamp that my friend Rosa (YT: Rosa Aquino) had gifted me. The line details on this stamp are just incredible, and the the hallway scene reminded me of parts of Hogwarts. I used black VersaFine ink to stamp this out on golden colored card stock, which I thought coordinated nicely with the gold dots on Dumbledore’s outfit. At first I was hesitant to combine a hard sketch style background stamp with the round, cartoony Lawn Fawn stamp, but I think the contrastĀ works surprisingly well together. šŸ™‚

I die cut Dumbledore’s wand using the wooden spoon from the Diemond Dies Mini Kitchen Utensils Die Set, just snipping off the spoon head part. You can’t see it in the photos, but I also added some Wink of Stella to the wand for some subtle shimmer. This is a card that I made for my niece as she starts college in a couple of weeks. I hope the Dumbledore quote, “It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow up to be.” will inspire and motivate her.

The following is a video share of this card:
