Next week my parents are going to visit with my youngest cousin, who is expecting her first baby. My aunt passed away suddenly due to an aneurysm when my cousin was a teenager, so my mom has become a big emotional support for her. Â My mom asked me to make a special card for my cousin, so I thought I would make a bright dress shaped card for the birth of her baby girl.
I used the Diemond Dies Dress Mini Album Die to make a shaped card with some Basic Grey floral paper called “Poppy Lane” from the “Fresh Cut” collection.  I love using the hinge technique for creating shaped cards with dies like this. Then I used some paper scraps and the second smallest dies from each of the Diemond Dies Nesting Scalloped Oval Die Set and the Diemond Dies Nesting Oval Die Set to make a little bib collar for the dress.

Surprisingly, I struggled a bit with the embellishing (which was fun nonetheless). First I tried making a little scalloped border at the bottom of the dress using the dress die and a whole punch.  I tried embellished the pale green bib with three small pale green acrylic flowers.  But the whole thing kind of looked washed out to me.
Round two, I remade the bib collar with a darker pink paper scrap and added some felt sticker flowers from the K&Company “Berry Sweet” collection on the dress.  Oh this brightened up the card so much–whew! I used a white Gelly Roll Pen to add some faux stitch lines to the bib collar and finished it off with a big flat-back pearl.
The following is a process video of making the card:
