Get Well Peekaboo Card: TTCRD GDTP Featuring Deedee’s Digis | CraftyPaws

I was so honored to be asked to be a guest designer for Through The Craft Room Door (TTCRD). Could things get even better? Yes! I got to pick out these wonderful doggy digis from Deedee’s Digis to use on my project. I picked the “Bulldog” from the Darling Doggies stamp set and the “Fall Bulldog” FREEBIE to make this get well interactive peekaboo card.  I made this card for my hubby’s aunt who’s been feeling under the weather and who LOVES bulldogs.  She’s had a few over the years, but she currently doesn’t have one.  She has been thinking of adopting one from a rescue recently so I thought I would try to help nudge her in that direction. 😀

This week TTCRD subscribers can get 50% off at Deedee’s Digis store by using the coupon code: TTCRDSUB50

TTCRD transitionTo construct the peekaboo card (tutorial video below), I used 3 pieces of brown DCWV shimmer card stock:
Front panel: 5 3/4″ x 11 3/4″and scored at 4″ (1/3 of length of the middle panel and equal to the width of the image plus 1/2″ for window framing space)
Middle panel: 5 3/4″ x 12″ and scored at 6″ (1/2 of length of this panel)
Back panel: 5 3/4″ x 8″ (2/3 of length of the middle panel) and scored at 7 3/4″

I also made my own patterned decorative papers with yellow and green card stock, a Darice paw print embossing folder, and Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Wild Honey and Peeled Paint. The following are the measurements for these papers:
Front panel decorative paper: 5 1/2″ x 7 5/8″
Two middle panel decorative papers: 5 1/2″ x 5 7/8″
I used the Diemond Dies Circle Nesting Dies and Diemond Dies Scalloped Circle Nesting Dies to cut out the peekaboo windows and scalloped frames.

I printed out the digi bulldog images to approximately 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ (this is really the largest the image can be for a peekaboo card using standard 12″ x 12″ card stock) and colored the sky and grass with Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass for sky and Bundled Sage for the grass. I also added grass blade details with a Bundled Sage colored Tim Holtz Distress Marker.

TTCRD backThe rest of the images were colored with these Copic markers:
Doghouse roof and interior: N7, 9, 10
Doghouse: R22, 24, 27
Doghouse sign (on which I printed “Ruff Day?”): W1 and 3
Bulldog muzzle and inside ears: RV000, W1, W3
Bulldog brown areas: E31, 33, 79 and white areas: W1 and 3
Bulldog tongue: RV52 and W3
Leaves: Y35, YR04, R05, R27 with clear Wink of Stella for shimmer
I also added Glossy Accents over eyes, nose and paw pads to add some shine.

To embellish the card, I used large white Artisan Flowers from pinkpaislee that I sprayed with Heidi Swapp spray in Mustard, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Penny, and Recollections spray ink in Yellow Shimmer. I also used some medium size Recollections paper flowers in coral and orange as well as some tiny red-orange roses that I purchased from the OnlyOneLifeCreations Etsy store.  I also inked up some green card stock with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Forest Moss and used the Diemond Dies Natures Flourish Die to tuck in some delicate leafy flourishes behind the flower clusters. I also printed out a couple of sentiments on my computer, used small circle dies to cut them out, inked them up with Peeled Paint, and framed them up with scalloped circle frames from some left over brown shimmer card stock.
