20150723_103957I saw a really cool technique at the Sparkle N Sprinkle booth at the Scrapbook Expo that I have been antsy to try with the peacock feather from the “Feathery Peacock” stamp set I picked up at the Heartfelt Creations booth.

I am not usually a fan of glitter because of the mess, but for special occasion projects (or people) I am willing to deal with it.  Next Saturday I am hoping to meet up with a YouTube crafty friend for the first time in person, and I plan to wrap up these little note cards as a gift for her.

First I stamped the feather out with VersaMark ink, and I heat embossed it with Sparkle N Sprinkle platinum embossing powder. Then I stamped the feather again with VersaMark ink over the top of the embossed feathers, and I heated/melted Sparkle N Sprinkle Jasper Blue opaque microfine glitter into the first embossed layer.  This seems to set the glitter into the embossing, trapping all those glitter flecks! YAY!

The following is a tutorial video:

These are simple to make and probably would have been even easier with a Misti or a Stampamajig (neither of which I own). In any event, the wispy look of the feathers all shiny and glittered really pack a visual punch. 🙂

These cards are being entered into the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Sparkle and Shine Challenge
Card Mania Anything Goes Challenge
Through the Craft Room Door Anything Goes Challenge
613 Avenue Create Anything Goes Challenge
Crafts Galore Use a Stamp or Digi Anything Goes Challenge

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful crafty day! WOOF
