Doggy Index Card for a Fellow Dog Loving Friend | CraftyPaws

“Everyone thinks they have the best dog. And none of them are wrong.” — W. R. Purche  That quote was the inspiration for this index card that celebrates the love of dogs that I created for my crafty friend, Tina (YT: Crafty Bean) who is a dog lover like me and is celebrating passing 1,600 YT subbies. YAY!

To create the background for this IC, I used the brick wall stamp from the Hampton Art Stencil 1 set and actually just drew in the top ledge of the brick wall with a VersaMarker. I wanted to keep this IC CAS (Clean and Simple), so I first heat embossed the brick wall with clear embossing powder and used a pearl snow embossing powder for a slightly darker top ledge. Then I had some fun using the embossed wall as a resist and freely watercolored a colorful sky with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet. To give a finished look, I also used a blending tool to ink the edges with more Blueprint Sketch ink.

20161013_154733Then for all the puppies peering over the wall, I used the top/front of the front and back dogs from the MFT Lucky Dogs stamp set, the MFT You Make My Tail Wag stamp set, the Art Impressions Cat & Dog Mini Set, and the top portion of a Pomeranian from a Snag ’em Stamps Imaginisce stamp. I stamped each pup with Momento Desert Sand Ink to get a no line coloring look. And I colored each of the dogs with the following Copic colors and hand fussy cut them out so that I could pop them up on double sided foam adhesive to add a little dimension with these pups:
Pomeranian (in honor of Tina’s Pom, Nova): E21, 11, 13, and 25 with R20 ears
Art Impressions dog: W1, 5, 7 and 9 with muzzle fur details added with Sakura white Gelly Roll pen
Rottweiler colored dog (in honor of Tina’s Rottie, Harley): W5, W7, W9, E21, E11, E33, E25 and R20 for ears
Scruffy dog (in honor of my Havanese, Bandito): W0, W1, E33, E25 with muzzle and paw fur details added with Sakura white Gelly Roll pen

I matted the sentiment, which I printed out from my computer, with scraps of card stock that I colored up with a Tim Holtz Distress Marker in Blueprint Sketch, and I broke it up so that the first sentence fit around the Rottie’s face and the second sentence could be put on the back of the IC. The rest of the IC back has bits of info about me that Tina requested.

The following is a video share of how I made this IC:
