I have been wanting a horizontal or vertical window style die for a long time (for whatever reason all of mine were round–lol). I finally received the fantastic Labels 1 Nesting Die Set from Diemonddies as a guest design team member and I LOVE it! For my subscribers, if you make a purchase from Diemonddies, use the coupon code, thankskristina, for an extra 10% off your entire purchase (including sale items) plus free shipping on orders over $35 (US and international).
Using a couple of Cuttlebug embossing folders I embossed plain white and blue card stock. Then I took the second largest Labels 1 Nesting die and cut out a window. To highlight the depth created by the embossing, I colored the swirls on the white one with my Sakura Gelly Roll clear star pen, and lightly finger dabbed the snowflakes on the blue one with my Tsukineko Brilliance moonlight white ink.
I used a cute Penny Black stamp that I colored with my Tim Holtz Distress Markers (the blue card) and my Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils (the white card) to create little windows into an adorable wintery scene. I’ll admit that I feel like I have much more control with my water color pencils than the distress markers, but that may have to do more with the fact that the distress markers are new to me. I’ll keep you all posted if my feelings change about them after I play/practice some more. 🙂
These cards were quick and easy to make, but I think that the extra embossed window layer that I popped up with foam adhesive adds a special pizzazz to the cards.
The blue card is being entered into the Sugar and Spice Crafty Challenge #8 and

The white card is being entered into the Simon Says Stamp W is for White Monday Challenge
