Christmas in July (2 of 3) | CraftyPaws

Picture 418I couldn’t stop playing with that Labels 1 Nesting die from Diemonddies! Plus I wanted to make more Christmas cards that were going to be collected for charities by my crafty friend Beth (Bethsscrapbookroom). 🙂  If you want some fabulous dies, check out Diemonddies (where I am a guest design team member this month) and if you use my coupon code “thankskristina” you’ll get an extra 10% off (even on sale items) plus free shipping on orders over $35 (US and international)

Picture 417With these cards, like the last couple, I used embossing folders to add some fun texture to plain white card stock and then used the second largest of the nesting dies to cut out a window. I popped up this layer with long thin strips of foam adhesive tape. This simple and quick process adds so much interest and texture to these cards. I really think this takes the cards from ordinary to extraordinary. lol

The little doggy in the present stamp is a cute wood block mounted stamp from Stampendous. I used my VersaMark ink and tried the Recollections brand Snow Pearl embossing powder for the craft card  (odd, but the embossing on this one didn’t come out white like I had expected, more craft colored, but I still liked it) and the Recollections brand Opaque Bling Sparkle embossing powder for the white card. I lightly colored the white card with my Tim Holtz Distress Marker in frayed burlap and my Pentel water brush and the soft effect was quite nice. The craft card I colored with my Tim Holtz Distress Marker in picket fence, and while I liked the final look, I felt like I had to go over it many times for the white to really show up.  To add a little more fun to the craft card, I also added a few white and silver sequins as well as a little delicate white lace bow.

These monochromatic holiday cards are fun and really quick to make–very little coloring time. I think they are so easy that I could even make these in bulk for friends and family this coming holiday season!

The white card is being entered into the Simon Says Stamp Monday W is for White Challenge and
the craft card is being entered into the Sugar and Spice Crafty  Challeng #8

Thanks for stopping by. Please subscribe if you wish, and have a great day! WOOF
