A crafty friend, Stacy (YT: LambertCreation26), recently had to put down her sweet basset hound, Chloe. She was so distraught and saddened by this and asked crafty friends to create a doggy themed pocket letter in memory of her pup.  Nothing pulls at my heart strings like the loss of an innocent, so regardless of what I had going on, I knew I had to create something in memory of Chloe Bug.
I started with a light colored puppy patterned paper by Deja View that I thought would let the rest of the puppy items shine. Then I busted into my puppy crafty stash and picked out some fantastic dimensional stickers with precious puppy images. I kept it simple, just adding teal and white baker’s twine bows, a few orange ribbon bows, and some hand cut word sentiments. The bottom center pocket I kept flatter, just using a printed vellum cut apart that said “paw prints” and a couple of glittery paw stickers (I popped up the paw print stickers on foam adhesive — I couldn’t help myself!) so that I would have space to insert my actual letter to Stacy in the back.
For the selvage I used one of my favorite washi tapes with super cute puppy faces on it. These images seemed to match the stickers perfectly! I was careful to re-cut the holes into the washi using an Xacto knife. Â I used a little chipboard “fetch” tag (which seemed to coordinate nicely with the little Labrador puppy in the adjacent pocket) for my “handmade with {heart} by CraftyPaws” label, which I also attached with baker’s twine.
For the center square of the pocket letter, I made a shaker using my American Crafts Fuse Tool. I filled the inside with brightly colored enamel dots and Studio Calico wood veneer dogs that I colored up with my metallic gold Sakura Gelly Roll pens. To cover up the seam, I added a dog bone/treats sticker, reinforcing the adhesion with E6000 (since this needs to stay stuck to the plastic pocket sleeve).
The following is a video share of the project:

Oh they seem to be all the rage on YouTube, and I’ve made half a dozen or so. They take me a lot of time generally, but I love making them and adding little gifts to the back of each of the pockets. They are a great way to share crafty yummies with fellow crafty friends. 🙂 TF stopping by! Hugs, Kristina
