Ok, I got so enamored and caught up with the cute little girl front and back stamp from Art Impressions’ “Boy & Girl Mini Set” that I started to make a birthday card, which turned kind of into a Christmas card! LOL
The sentiment from the stamp set “never grow up.” was perfect for the birthday card I was making for my friend Sarah (YT: Sarah Elliott), but then I think I had Christmas on the brain (from all of my recent Christmas projects) so that my mind wandered to the “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” poem. Â I started thinking about how children are so innocent and believe in magic and how the poem has the fabulous visually intriguing line, “…visions of sugar plums danced in their heads.” So for the inside of the card I stamped out the top part of the little kitty with the cupcake on her head from the Penny Black Tiny Treats Stamp Set and I wrote in (trying to match the font of the Art Impressions sentiment on the front of the card)Â the sentiment, “Believe!”
For the card front I wanted to add visual interest and texture without detracting from the adorable little girl focal point so I die cut a couple of times (for thickness) the Kelly Purkey “Outlined Chevron” die and stacked and glued them to the front. This created (I hope) a kind of graphic sense of a wall. Â Then I used a couple of circles from the Diemond Dies Circle Nesting Die Set to create a porthole window and window frame that the little girl could peek through.
I used the following Copic colors for the little girl and the kitty inside:
Skin: E50, 51 and 53 with R20 for blush and a white Gelly Roll Pen for eye highlights
Hair: E53, 55, 97, 57 and 59
Leggings: C0 and 1
Tunic and Shoes: RV52 and 55
Shadow under girl, C1 and 2
I wanted to keep the girl as the main focus and make the kitty a dreamy quality so I colored the kitty image in greys with a hint of a plum grey for the sugar plum cupcake 🙂
Kitty’s turtleneck and cupcake wrapper: C1, 2, 5 and 7
Cupcake hat: BV01 and 13 with some sparkle added with a Clear Star Gelly Roll Pen
