My nephew is turning 22 and I wanted to make him a fun interactive card. Â However, keeping in mind that he is not likely to save and “treasure” the card as much as appreciate the cash inside I knew I wanted to keep it CAS (Clean and Simple)! LOL
I brought out my Simon Says Stamp “Watts Up” stamp set and decided to just have fun with a few different techniques: I played with some “smooshing” of Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Spiced Marmalade and Squeezed Lemon), did some masking of the sentiment stamp to customize it, tried some layered stamping, used the super fun interactive Diemond Dies Pull Strip Die, and even made some origami hearts out of $20 bills to tuck inside the pocket!
My readers can get 10% off their entire purchase and free worldwide shipping on all orders of $35 or more at Diemond Dies by using the coupon code “thankskristina” at check out!
As I was practicing the printing, stamping and masking for the final card, I came up with a little bonus card (see upper left photo) that I will tuck away in my stash until I need it. The spacing isn’t perfect and I think I like the cleaner final card with more white space, but I think only a card maker will notice (at least I hope so). 🙂
The following is a tutorial video sharing the whole process:

I think that both of them are fantastic. I love a good punny sentiment and this definitely delivers. Love the POP of color.
I’m a sucker for puns. 🙂 TF stopping by! hugs, Kristina
What a fantastic pair of cards! It was so fun to see the same stamp in different ways. And what a brilliant idea to make the light bulb look so glassy! I had to laugh at your comment about your nephew and how you don’t think he’ll treasure the card as much as your cash, but any of us crafty ladies would definitely treasure this card instead!! You did a wonderful job and I’m so glad you shared your talents with us for this week’s Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
Thanks so much for taking the time to read my blog post! I truly appreciate it. I hope my nephew does like his card, but my guess is still that he’ll like the cash better. 🙂 Thanks for the fun challenge too! Big hugs, Kristina
This is a perfect card for a male 22 year old! As my hubby always reminds me, you need to go ahead and make 2 or 3 cards to have in your stash…but some reason I rarely do. Your other card is wonderful too! Thanks for taking the time to join the girls and I over at Seize the Birthday, we sure do appreciate it!
Thanks so much for your sweet and thoughtful comment Nancy! My nephew loved his card — and the cash inside that little pocket. 🙂 TF stopping by! Hugs, Kristina
Lovely card, I really like the style. And the pocket inside is so creative.
