Cards Using Tim Holtz Sewing Edge Die | CraftyPaws

I received this wonderful Tim Holtz Sewing Edge Die from my friend Myra (YT: Craftyrats) a few months ago. Since then, I’ve been wondering when a good occasion to use it would come up. Then recently another YT crafter, Sherain (YT: proudmommy702) posted a challenge asking folks to make cards for her son’s Cub Scout troop’s initiative to make and collect cards for folks in senior centers or hospitals. I love a good cause, and this one was special: helping seniors, the ailing, and young boys!

Picture 502I started with my normal A2 card size (4.25″ x 5.5″) cardstock base, then used the die to cut out the edge of the front panel. I used lots of Distress Inks (Walnut Stain, Antique Photo, Forest Moss, and Victorian Velvet) to distress and rough up the edges of each base, the die cut section, the patterned paper bases and fishtail banners (It is still amazing to me how this simple step really lends a finished look to cards).

I usedĀ lots of scrap trims, laces, doilies, baker’s twine, colored twine, buttons, etc. and just had fun decorating. This die really lends itself to adding lots of embellishments. To add a little extra interest and some shine,Ā I also added Glossy Accents to the parts of the die cut areas that would be metal (the scissors and the metal sewing machine spool).

Inside each card, I used the Michaels Studio G mini alpha stamps and an old American Crafts medium alpha stamp set to stamp out the sentiment: “We love you SEW much” in Antique Photo. Although the letters were not perfectly straight and there was some splattering, I thought it actually added to the distressed and antique look. šŸ™‚

The following is a video share of this project:

These cards are also being entered into the Simon Says Stamp Monday Scratched Up ChallengeĀ and
The Naughty or Nice #7 Anything Goes Challenge
