I was so enamored with the cute puppy from the Paper Smooches Comforting Hugs stamp set. I’ve been itching to use it, and I finally thought this birthday card for a crafty friend with bulldogs (YT: LisasBoutique1973) would be the perfect opportunity. I Copic colored the pup to look like a cartoon-y bulldog using the following colors: 0, W1, E31, E23, E59, and RV11. I fussy cut it out and popped it up on double sided foam adhesive to add a bit of dimension.

I paired this with one of my all time favorite dies from Winnie & Walter called the True Multifaceted Heart Cutaways. It was used with gold foil paper, which I think gives it a sophisticated look in contrast with the silly puppy. I mounted everything on 140 lb watercolor paper that I die cut with a scalloped rectangle die from the WPlus9 Sunshine Layers die set and watercolored using Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed, and Wilted Violet and a clear Wink of Stella Brush (love the added sparkle!). As I describe in my process video, I was going for a impressionistic floral summer garden feeling with vibrant blended colors. I’m not sure how successful it was, but I gave it my best shot. LOL

For a shimmery sentiment, I used the Essentials by Ellen Hello Gorgeous stamp set, a MISTI tool, a VersaMarker pen, and clear embossing powder. I also added a handful of color coordinated sequins to add extra sparkle and then mounted the whole card front onto a pink card stock card base.

To finish off the inside of the card, I used the “It’s Your Day” sentiment from the TPC Studio Cupcake stamp set, three of the gems from the Hello Gorgeous stamp set, and some of the left over facets from the Winnie & Walter True Multifaceted Heart Cutaway die. I also did a little bit of doodling and added some color to the gems with the fine point side of some Tim Holtz Distress Markers.

The following is a process video of making this card:
