I am so excited to share this card with you all. I made it for my nephew who is studying for his GRE exams while working full time. He is a really hard worker, and I wanted him to know I was thinking of him, especially as all of this is going down around his birthday (poor kid)! He loves all dogs (like me) so I thought a fun shaker birthday card would be perfect.<\/p>\n

The pup and sentiment are from the super adorable Howl Are Your? stamp set by Gerda Steiner Designs<\/a><\/span><\/span>, the Paw Prints die set is from Paper Smooches<\/a><\/span><\/span>, and the Cross Stitched Square die set is from Diemond Dies<\/a><\/span><\/span>. I picked up all of these crafty yummies in the last week (I know, that’s a lot of crafty “picking up” – LOL), and I was so tickled to use them all on this shaker card. But I’m not all about the latest and newest things. I also used some old Creative Memories oval cutting tools that I’ve had since I first tried scrap booking some 15+\u00a0years ago! To keep clean black, white with a small pop of color\u00a0look of the card (which I thought would be good for a young man–not too cutsie), I Copic colored the little pup with W0, W3, W5 and C9 for the nose. I used BG10 and 13 for the collar since that color is my nephew’s favorite. For a bit of shine, I also added Glossy Accents to the little pup’s nose.<\/p>\n

To create a balanced look, I die cut the square with the cross stitched square die and created a 3 by 3 grid design with the paw dies. After gluing down some clear plastic packaging over the die cut area, I created separate shaker compartments around each paw with double sided foam adhesive. Then I filled each area with alternating black and silver sequins to maintain that monochromatic look.<\/p>\n
