Some of you know that I have gotten a huge work project so I am going to be taking a bit of a hiatus from crafting. However, after almost a week of zero crafting, I found myself itching to create something. I decided to toss caution to the wind and made some Valentines embellishments into the wee hours of the morning. Oh I paid the price the next day with a migraine, dry eyes, and fuzzy brain, but I was happy knowing I did something that fed my soul.

I made a set of Valentines embellishments for a crafty friend, Connie (YT: C’s Vintage Gifts & More) and a set for my hubby (and best friend) for his birthday coming up at the end of this month. I kept everything in a monochromatic white/cream, other than the stamped images of pups from the Penny Black Mimi in Paris stamp set and the My Creative Time Christmas Doggy (representing our Biscuit and Bandito, our pups who are best of friends) that I colored with the following Copic colors: poodle: E51, E21, E11, and E93, and spotted dog: W1, W3, E33, E23 and E25. I also made each embellishment from heart die cuts made with the Diemond Dies Heart Nesting Die Set and a Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Heart die set. I wanted each embellishment to be unique, but I wanted the grouping to be cohesive and have a tight design for framing.

I used the “forever,” “love,” and “xoxo” words from the Diemond Dies Word Die Set #1, some tiny pom pom trim, plastic doves, mulberry paper roses, vintage buttons, sequins and glitter (the button framed hearts are shakers), butterfly die cuts from the Memory Box Kensington Border Die, a wood grain embossing folder from the Paper Studio, a Darice Paw Print Embossing Folder, floral applique trim, flat back pearls, a resin bow, heart cabochons, medium pom poms, a porcelain flower and Deco Art Snow Writer (for the sheep from the Lawn Fawn Baaah Humbug stamp set, which I also Copic colored with C1 and C3), and Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Antique Linen to distress and add soft vintage color to everything. For the background on the framed piece for my hubby, I used a steel grey paper from the DCWV Shimmer Stack with a white polka dot vellum overlay from the Cosmo Cricket Vellumptuous collection. For the background on the embellies set for my friend, I used a fabric printed paper from the DCWV Lace & Linen Stack. Most of these things have been in my stash for a long time, and I am so glad I could put them to use for these projects.

My readers can get 10% off and free worldwide shipping at Diemond Dies by using the coupon code “thankskristina” at checkout.

The following is a video share of these embellishments:
