Mel, the owner of MelsCraftBoutique, asked me to create another Steampunk Valentine project so…how excited\u00a0was I\u00a0to be able to use my brand new (just 2 days in my home)\u00a0Sweet Pea Stamps’ “Steampunk Doll!”<\/p>\n

<\/a>I stamped the image out on Strathmore Watercolor paper a few times and took my time experimenting and playing with some Distress Markers and my Pentel water brush. I wanted an artistic painterly look for this image, and I took color cues and tried to mimic the mood of\u00a0Salvador Dali’s famous painting, “The Persistence of Memory,” (that’s the one with the drippy clocks in a desert).<\/p>\n

Along with a black Copic Multiliner (o.3), a Sakura white Gelly Roll pen, and clear Wink of Stella, the following are the Distress Marker colors I used:
\nHair: Black Soot, Tea Dye
\nSkin and blush: Tattered Rose with Spun Sugar
\nPuff sleeve shirt: Black Soot and Picket Fence with Tea Dye or Broken China
\nBodice: Black Soot and Walnut Stain
\nCorset, headband, and trims: Tea Dye and Antique Photo
\nRed hair bow: Fired Brick
\nWings: Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Fired Brick–all watered down
\nJewels: Broken China
\nBackground buildings: Milled Lavendar
\nDesert sky color: Antique Linen<\/p>\n

To hammer home the idea of Valentines, I also added 3\u00a0hearts die cut using a La-La Land Craft Hearts Die. I used Glossy Accents on the inner and outer edge of each heart and adhered them with foam adhesive so they would stand up to the all the shine and dimension of the other embellishments on the layout.<\/p>\n
