Running a bit behind right now with pre-Christmas prep, but here’s a completed card with this week’s free digi, “Gift From Down Under”. I thought it would be nice to create a digi with a less-oft drawn animal for the holidays. Hope my friends from Australia and New Zealand like him!

I made a simple card that doesn’t have too much dimension so that it could be mailed internationally to one of my subscribers. *wink* I started with a thick white Bazzill card stock for the base and layered a pretty snowflake patterned paper from the Crate Paper “Snowy Day” collection. I thought the unusual colors would work well with this unusual character for Christmas. LOL

I also wanted to create a bit of grounding for the kangaroo so I used a Cuttlebug Snowflake embossing folder and ran a thin white card stock through my Sizzix Big Shot with it. I lightly inked the embossed snowflakes and the edges of the patterned and embossed papers to give a finished look.

For the kangaroo, I used the following Copic colors: Belly and snout: E31; Body: E33; Ears: YR000; Present: BG23 and 45; Bow and ribbon: BG10. I also used a little Clear Wink of Stella on the bow and ribbon to add a little shimmer. Lastly I got out my Glossy Accents and used it to add shine to the kangaroos eyes and nose but also to adhere the snowflake sequins that I added to the background. WOW, does that work great as an adhesive!

ANNOUNCEMENT: I am taking a short break from creating digis (just for the next couple of weeks). I promise that after the holiday craziness subsides, I’ll be back with more. Happy holidays to you and yours! xoxo

This card is being entered into the following challenges: Thanks for stopping by!
