To me, summertime means oceans and animals. So when I got the\u00a0Creative Expressions Whale of A Time Stamp Set<\/a><\/span>, I knew I wanted to make fun summer CAS cards (the next two posts HERE<\/a><\/span> and HERE<\/a><\/span> share the other cards in this set).<\/p>\n

<\/a>I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks in Broken China<\/a><\/span>, Salty Ocean<\/a><\/span> and Blueprint Sketch<\/a><\/span> to create a deep ocean ombre background. I also splattered water on them
\nto create a splotchy, more watery effect.<\/p>\n

Then I used a scrap of Bristol Paper that I had inked and sprayed with Ken Oliver Color Bursts in Lemon Yellow, Orange and Merlot<\/a><\/span> to stamp out and fussy cut 5 jellyfish from the stamp set. The fussy cutting was a bit intricate, but with my trusty Fiskars Spring Loaded Scissors<\/a><\/span> and a little patience, it was well worth the effort to achieve the dimension and detail. I also\u00a0inked the edges with a Momento Tuxedo Black Marker to hide the white edges of the cut paper.<\/p>\n

To give each jellyfish a unique look (there is only 1 jellyfish in the stamp set) I doodled some black and white tentacle squiggles and swirls with a Black Uniball Pen<\/a><\/span> and a White Signo Ge<\/a>l<\/a> Pen<\/a><\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0I also like the way the white actually helped the jellyfish pop from the background.<\/p>\n

Lastly, I hand wrote the sentiment “FLOAT ON” with a White Signo Gel Pen<\/a><\/span> in the lower right corner. To give the letters a little more weight, I also added a slight shadow with a Black Uniball Pen<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n
