Ok, if you’ve spent any time with me on YT, Instagram or my blog, you know that I am a total dog person. But today I am here to share a card for all those folks who love the independent spirit of cats!<\/p>\n

<\/a>The whimsical look of the\u00a0IndigoBlu Kevin’s Gang cat stamps<\/a><\/span>\u00a0fit so well with the sentiment in the stamp set that says: “DOGS come when they’re called (a feature I personally love about dogs) CATS take a message and get back to you”. Because I wanted to accentuate the silly kitty images, I refrained from coloring them up (except for a tiny bit of Copic RV52 for inside their ears – I couldn’t help myself!). All I did was add a little shine and a teeny bit of texture by going over the eyes, noses and various fur patterns with a black Sakura Glaze Pen<\/a><\/span>. Then I just fussy cut them out so I could position them in some heart windows cut from a tonal grey patterned paper from my scrap box (it was from the DCWV Alphabet Stack for the letter Q).<\/p>\n

To create heart windows from which the kitties could pop out, I used the small and medium hearts from the Diemond Dies Inside and Out Stitched Hearts Die Set<\/a><\/span> that had the stitching on both the inside and outside of the hearts. I wanted the stitching detail for the heart window frames and this worked perfectly. To add a bit of color, I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Spun Sugar<\/a><\/span> and Picked Raspberry<\/a><\/span> to create an ombre effect in each heart window.<\/p>\n

I used thin double sided foam adhesive (from the Dollar Tree!) to position and pop up all the kitties and the card front with the heart windows. Then I heat embossed the sentiment on black card stock that I first prepped with my EK Success Powder Tool<\/a><\/span> with Super Fine Ranger White Embossing Powder<\/a><\/span> and split it up so that the card front had the first doggy part and the inside of the card had the second kitty part of the sentiment. For the inside of the card, I also added a fourth kitty from the\u00a0IndigoBlu Kevin’s Gang stamp set<\/a><\/span>\u00a0. This one was in repose, which seemed to fit the idea of cats getting back to their people in their own time. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
