Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers | CraftyPaws https://www.craftypaws.us "PAWS" and enjoy the journey! Sun, 05 Jul 2020 18:39:42 +0000 en-US hourly 1 Woofing You a Happy Birthday! https://www.craftypaws.us/woofing-you-a-happy-birthday/ https://www.craftypaws.us/woofing-you-a-happy-birthday/#comments Sun, 05 Jul 2020 02:34:48 +0000 https://www.craftypaws.us/?p=12839 I absolutely fell in love with the Stampendous Dog Kissses Stamp Set, and I knew I wanted to craft a special card with the adorable pups in the set. I thought that my dad’s 86th birthday just around the corner, was the perfect opportunity to ink them all up.

I kept the card simple; making it a single layer card.  I used Strathmore Watercolor Paper and cut it down to 3.5″ x 8.5″, and simply inked up the line of pups on the slim line card card front with VersaFine Black Onyx Ink, which is safe for watercoloring. I then doodled on a rustic wooden fence with a Faber-Castell S Point Black PITT Artist Pen so that all the pups could look like they were jumping up over the fence from their yard into our garden to join in the party.

For watercoloring the scene, I used the following Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers with a Pentel Waterbrush:
Fence: Dark Brown (062), Mid Brown (065), Brown (060), Beige (072)
Golden Retreiver: Yellow (050), Beige (072)
Brown and White Pup (with my Bandito’s coloring): Light Brown (061), Brown (060), Beige (072), Light Grey (091)
Black and White Pup (with my Babaloo’s coloring): Beige (072), Light Grey (091), Dark Grey (095), Black (010)
Black Labrador: Light Blue (036), Dark Grey (095), Black (010)
Bulldog: Light Brown (061), Brown (060), Light Pink (026), Dark Brown (062), Dark Grey (095)
Tongues: Geranium (029), Wine Red (024), Dark Grey (095)
Sky: Light Blue (036)

I kept the inside card liner simple too. As if the dogs on the front were popping up to say, “Woofing You A happy Birthday”, I stamped the sentiment from the My Favorite Things Lucky Dog Stamp Set (retired). For an added “extra” I stamped out the little bulldog looking over his front paws on the bottom edge of the card liner to make it look like this pup was also peering in. The card base was cut from a navy blue card stock to nicely frame the card front.

You’re DOGGONE Wonderful! https://www.craftypaws.us/youre-doggone-wonderful/ https://www.craftypaws.us/youre-doggone-wonderful/#comments Sat, 20 Jul 2019 21:15:34 +0000 https://www.craftypaws.us/?p=12417 I have been away on vacation with my parents, Mr. CraftyPaws and my nephew, and when I returned, I had so much to catch up on, that I really couldn’t get my crafty mojo going. Well, if you know me, then you might have guessed that nothing gets my crafty juices flowing like my favorite crafty inspiration — puppies, especially when they’re as cute as the Art Impressions Watercolor “Dogs Set” of stamps!

I gave each puppy distinct breed markings and did some quick animal print coloring with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers:
Yorkie Puppy: Black (010); Dark Gray (095); Beige (072); Light Brown (061); and Flesh (071)
Dalmatian Puppy: Black (010); Dark Gray (095); and Light Gray (091) with Geranium Red (029) for the tongue

Havanese (Bandito look-a-like): Brown (060); Beige (072); Light Brown (061); and Light Gray (091)
I also re-emphasized the eyes and noses with a Sakura Black Glaze Pen, fussy cut them all out with my Fiskars Spring Loaded Scissors, inked the edges with a Memento Tuxedo Black Marker, and glued down their bases and popped them up with double sided foam adhesive.

To spotlight each pup, I used the Poppy Stamps “Heart Trio Showcase” Die Set. I used it with a scrap of dark purple card stock, then with a scrap of lavendar scroll patterned paper, and lastly with a shimmery pink puffy textured paper. I inset the scroll patterned paper into the dark frames for a soft background, and popped in the pink hearts.

For the card front background, I dug around in my scrap box and found some beautiful loosely watercolored paper that I had created using Ken Oliver Color Bursts in Indigo and Ultramarine Blue. Then, applying the “Rule of Thirds”, I covered the bottom third of the card front with more of the shimmery pink textured paper. This had the benefit of brightening the card as well as repeating the paper used in the hearts for a cohesive look. For where the pink textured paper met the smooth watercolored background, I rummaged through my ribbons scraps and found a pink satin ribbon trimmed with delicate white lace that could be glued down with Beacon Fabri-Tac Adhesive. Then I decided that the pink satin ribbon area could use something more and tied 3 small pale pink satin ribbon bows using my Craft-Dee Bowz tool. I topped each of the bow centers with a lavender flat backed pearl to add even more shine and interest.

Because the back side of the card front looked a bit rough (the ribbon and lace trim was tucked around the back for clean side edges on the card front), I lined the back side of the card front with more of the lavender scroll patterned paper. The card base was made with another scrap of cardstock, this time in a rich aqua marine, and lined with a white card stock. The sentiment, You’re DOGGONE WONDERFUL” is from the MFT “Best in Show” stamp set. and I decorated the liner with scrap heart outline and heart inset left-overs from the textured pink and lavender scroll papers.

Celebrate the Little Things https://www.craftypaws.us/celebrate-the-little-things/ https://www.craftypaws.us/celebrate-the-little-things/#comments Sat, 20 Jan 2018 23:09:58 +0000 https://www.craftypaws.us/?p=10554 I fell in love with this super cute Stamping Bella “Maisy an Madeline Have Some Tea” stamp the minute I laid eyes on it, but this is the first time I’ve had a chance to color it up. So I wanted to give it a special coloring treatment and send it to a best girlfriend with whom I used to love getting coffee (sadly we don’t live in the same city anymore so we do virtual coffee time together by video call about once every couple of months).

I first stamped out the image with Versafine Black Onyx Ink and colored it up with the following Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers:
Background: Light Blue (036) and my waterbrush was fortuitously still dirty with yellow ink from a prior project so there is a beautiful blue-to-yellow ombre glow around the image too.
Table: Oatmeal (064), Beige (072), and Dark Oatmeal (066)
Mice: Pale Pink (028) (inside ears), Oatmeal (064), Beige (072), and Dark Oatmeal (066)
Leaves: Lemon Yellow, Light Green (041), Green (040)
Yellow flower centers and yellow of teacup and saucer: Lemon Yellow (051), Yellow (050) and Bright Yellow (052)
Red flower petals and teacup polka dots and saucer: Bright Yellow (052) and Geranium Red (029)

Then for more detailed nooks and cranny and highlights coloring I used the Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils over top:
Background: Canary Yellow (916), Electric Blue (1040), and China Blue (1100)
Table: 90% Cool Grey (1067)
Mice: Blush Pink (928) and White (938)
Leaves: Canary Yellow (916)
Yellow of teacup and saucer: Canary Yellow (916), Yellowed Orange (1002), Tuscan Red (937) (shadowed areas), and White (938) (highlight areas)
Flower petals and red of saucer: Crimson Lake (925) and Tuscan Red (937)

I had so much fun experimenting with this coloring, and I didn’t want to distract too much from the final image, so I kept the rest of the card simple. I die cut the image using the fourth largest Diemond Dies Cross Stitched Circles Die Set (NOTE: My readers can get 10% off and FREE worldwide shipping on all orders of $35 or more at Diemond Dies by using the coupon code: thankskristina).

For the layer underneath, I cut a rectangle of white card stock and ran it through my Big Shot with the heart embossing folder from the We R Memory Keepers Next Level Dotted Set. I also rounded the upper left and lower right corners with a We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper for a little added interest. For a tiny bit of dimension, I added a sheet of fun foam under this layer before adhering it to my standard A2 size card base.

For the sentiment, I decided to use the Neat & Tangled Celebrate Word Die, which I cut out of card stock 3 times and stacked together for a little thickness and stability. I colored it ombre similar to the colors I used in the image background and then glued it overlapping the lower part of the lower part of the image. To continue with the sentiment idea, I stamped out the sentiment from the stamp set that reads, “enjoy the little things” on the pale blue-green inside liner sheet. I also re-stamped just the two mice peeking over the teacup on the lower right of the liner sheet to add their sweet little visages again.

The following is a coloring process video:

Home is Where the Dogs Are – Custom Scene Card https://www.craftypaws.us/home-is-where-the-dogs-are-custom-scene-card/ https://www.craftypaws.us/home-is-where-the-dogs-are-custom-scene-card/#comments Thu, 18 Jan 2018 05:01:27 +0000 https://www.craftypaws.us/?p=10513 I’m so excited about creating this custom scene card for a friend who loves her two Pugs and Chihuahua. I used three Joy Crafts stamp sets from Topflight Stamps: Love Dogs (which features 6 super CUTE Pug images), Home Sweet Home 1 (retired), and Home Sweet Home 2 (retired).  I think these are acrylic stamps, which sometimes don’t give the cleanest stamping impressions. However, that’s not an issue even for a bad stamper like me, with a MISTI stamping tool (and on the plus side they are much easier to keep clean without staining when using permanent inks). I also used a stamp from the Art Impressions Doggy Kisses stamp set to represent my friend’s Chihuahua.

I’ve linked up a video tutorial for how to stamp out a single layer scene like this below, but basically, you stamp the most forward images first, create masks for them, and stamp the images behind them next. You repeat that process: stamping, masking, and stamping the next layer back; until you’re done creating the whole scene.

To color up the scene, I used the following Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers:
Dogs: Lemon Yellow (051), Flesh (071), Oatmeal (064), Brown (060), Mid Gray (096) and Dark Brown (062)
Fireplace, sofa table and book shelf: Oatmeal (064), Mid Gray (096), Dark Brown (062) and Black (010)
Mirror, sofa and arm chair: Light Blue(036) and Cobalt Blue (031)
Books: Bright Yellow (052), Geranium (029), Light Blue(036) and Cobalt Blue (031)
Lamp shades, teddy bear, and other orange-red accent decor pieces: Bright Yellow (052) and Geranium (029)
Yellow walls and yellow parts of pillows: Lemon Yellow (051)
Carpeting: Lemon Yellow (051) and Bright Yellow (052)
Plant on bookshelf: Pale Green (045)

Then I layered onto some of the images the following Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils to add details and lighten some of the watercoloring that had gotten a little too dark in some areas (think dark Pug faces):
Dogs: Beige Peche (1085), Cream (914), Framboise Noire (1095), Gris Chaud (1058), and Blanc (938)
Walls, sofa and arm chair: Blanc (938)
Rug: Cream (914) and Yellowed Orange (1002)
Fireplace: Framboise Noire (1095)

Lastly for the inside liner sheet, I used a couple of stamps that my friend, who’s receiving this card, has gifted me over the years. The sentiment, which I love because it is great for any time, is a Rubbernecker red rubber cling stamp called, “Pawsitively.” The row of paw prints was stamped using Simon Says Stamp Clementine Premium Ink and a handmade rubber paw stamp on a wooden dowel. Obviously my friend and I share our love of dogs and crafts! LOL

Merry Christmas From Our Home To Yours https://www.craftypaws.us/merry-christmas-from-our-home-to-yours/ https://www.craftypaws.us/merry-christmas-from-our-home-to-yours/#comments Thu, 12 Oct 2017 23:00:33 +0000 https://www.craftypaws.us/?p=10181 This card, which features the versatility of the Docrafts Brickwork Background Stamp, is a guest design team project for Maymay Made It. These three Katzelkraft Grumpy Penguins with their disgruntled faces totally crack me up so I thought it would be fun to play with them and the Docrafts Brickwork Background Stamp to create a single layer shaped card that would harken to an igloo home for them.

I started out with Strathmore Bristol Paper for the card front and stamped out the Grumpy Penguins using VersaFine Onyx Black Ink (which is water-safe). Then I used Winsor & Newton Art Masking Fluid and covered them up with an old synthetic paint brush that I had first coated with a little bar soap (this helps prevent the masking fluid from permanently sticking to the bristles and makes clean up easier). I waited until the masking fluid was dry to the touch (about 5 minutes) before moving on to the next step.

To stamp out the Brickwork Background, I decided to use Simon Says Stamp Winter Sky Premium Ink so that the bricks would look more like ice blocks and less like bricks. Then I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers in Cobalt Blue (031) and Peacock Blue (038) to watercolor in the blocks. For an even more icy look, I used a Uni-ball Signo White Gel Pen to add highlights on all the blocks.

I then used the soft part of my finger to rub off the dried masking fluid. I was careful not to scrape with my fingernail or press too hard because I didn’t want the masking fluid to take off any of the paper, and luckily it came off really easily.

Then it was a matter of just adding some colorful details to the penguins. I used Yellow (050) and Orange (070) to add some brightness to their eyebrows, beaks, feet and bellies. Then for the shadowed lower and sides of their bellies, I used a Light Gray (091), which I think added a more rounded, dimensional look to the penguins.

To made the background look even more like an igloo, I decided to make this into a shaped card. I used the largest circle die from Diemond Dies’ Die-Normous Stack-Ems Circle Nesting Die Set, and cut the top half of the circle from the card front top. Then I took a piece of white cardstock, folded one side about 1/4″ down and put that folded side just under the circle die and ran that through my die cutting machine half way down too; this forms the card base back. For both the card front and the card back, I trimmed the sides straight down from where the half circles left off. This created an arched, or igloo, shape. I glued the two sides together at the tab that was created by doing the 1/4″ fold. I know reading these instructions can be a little unclear, so if you want to see all of this, the video below walks you through the whole process in detail.

Lastly, for the sentiment, I simply used a Uni-ball Signo White Gel Pen to hand write a little sentiment that reads, “Merry Christmas from our home to yours.” I love the odd juxtaposition of the grumpy faces of the penguins with this super cheery sentiment. LOL

The following is a start to finish process video of creating this card:

Mermaids Under the Sea ATCs https://www.craftypaws.us/mermaids-under-the-sea-atcs/ https://www.craftypaws.us/mermaids-under-the-sea-atcs/#comments Mon, 28 Aug 2017 21:45:22 +0000 https://www.craftypaws.us/?p=9996 I am usually a purist (or some would call simple – LOL). I usually use 1 type of marker or coloring medium on each project (2 if I’m being bold). But for these two Mermaids Under the Sea ATCs I used 6 types of markers!

For the watery wavy background I used various blues and aquas from the 60 piece set of Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and free hand colored up the segments. I used a Pentel waterbrush to blend out each section, making sure to color up the segments in alternating order so each segment could dry before the adjacent segment was watercolored so they would not bleed into each other. I also doodled out some zig-zaggy framing around both ATCs using Ultra Fine Point Sharpie Markers in Red, Hot Pink, Medium Pink, Purple and Gray.

For the school of orange fish, I inked up a simple fish stamp with a Ripe Persimmon Tim Holtz Distress Marker and colored the bodies with Wild Honey. For a little shimmer, I also added scales with a Clear Star Gelly Roll Pen. For the purple and yellow striped fish, I stamped out the fish with more Wild Honey and used Tim Holtz Distress Markers in Wilted Violet and more Wild Honey to watercolor them up. For the pink and green fish, I stamped the fish in Abandoned Coral and watercolored using Tim Holtz Distress Markers in Spun Sugar and Twisted Citron. The seaweed are colored up with Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Peacock Feathers and Pine Needles, and the starfish are colored up with Squeezed Lemonade and Spiced Marmalade. I added more shimmer with the Gelly Roll Pen over the fins of the fish and the star fish as well. Except for the big school of orange fish, each of these little scene builders were painstakingly fussy cut out and glued on or popped up with double sided foam tape.

For the mermaids, I wanted a soft look, so I stamped out each with Momento Desert Sand Ink to do some no line coloring. I re-defined the facial features with a 0.3 pt Copic Multi-liner Pen in Cool Gray. Then I used the following Copic colors:
Mermaid with green starfish hair pin:
Skin: E51, E21, R20
Hair: YR21, RV52, RV66, RV69
Bikini top, mermaid tail, and starfish hair pin: YG25, YG17, RV52, RV55, RV66, RV69
Mermaid with purple hair:
Skin: E51, E21, E11, R20
Hair: V12, V15, V06, V09
Bikini top and mermaid tail: YR21, R22, V06 and V09
Mermaid winking:
Skin: E51, E21, R20
Hair: YR20, YR21, RV55 R24, C5
Bikini top and mermaid tail: YR20, YR21, R22, R24

The following is a video share of these ATCs that includes the no line coloring of the purple-haired mermaid:

Whatever is Good for the Soul…Do That https://www.craftypaws.us/whatever-is-good-for-the-soul-ic/ https://www.craftypaws.us/whatever-is-good-for-the-soul-ic/#comments Fri, 19 May 2017 00:47:09 +0000 http://www.craftypaws.us/?p=9645 I just couldn’t put away the digi images from Vera Lane Studios before making one more quick project — they are just so quirky and whimsical! The little girl and the pup on the right on this Index Card (IC) are from the Curly Girl digi stamp set, and the poodle (yes, I drew another one to represent my sweet Biscuit), I doodled, mimicking Vera Lane’s style.

The background of the IC (measuring 5″ x 3″), the digital images, and the doodled poodle were all printed on Strathmore Bristol Paper. Then the background was watercolored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a Pentel waterbrush. I used Light Blue and Cobalt Blue for the sky and Light Green and May Green for the grass. The edges are checkered for a funky frame with a Fine Point Sharpie Black Marker.

The Poodle was water colored with Pale Pink, Light Pink and Oatmeal for the body; Pink and Light Violet for the flower around the eye; and Light Blue for the eye balls. The goofy pup on the right I colored up to represent my Bandito with brown markings using Oatmeal. The girl jumping/dancing up into the air (representing me) is colored with: Skin: Flesh, Pale Pink; Hair: Black with dot detail added with a White Uniball Signo Gel Pen; Eyes: Green and Light Blue; Dress Bubble Polka Dots: Geranium Red; and Flower around Eye: Orange and Pink.

I girl and the pup on the right were printed directly onto the background and drew some jumping up lines beneath her feet and arms with a black Uniball Pen and the White Uniball Signo Gel Pen to give a sense of action. I also added some fun Prima “Say it in Crystals” bling from the “Lady Bird Collection” in the same areas to emphasize the feeling of lift with some sparkle.

The IC is a cartoon-ized portrait of me and my fur babies. The sentiment, which is also from the digi stamp set says, “Whatever is good for the soul… Do that.” I printed that out and added some doodled lines around the phrases to help them stand out from the background. With the past month being so rough health-wise for my sweet Biscuit and for my dad (who was finally discharged from the hospital with a new pace maker today — YAY!), crafting (and supportive and encouraging crafty friends) has been good for my soul, so this IC speaks to my frame of mind and emotions right now in many ways. I feel like flying/jumping for joy with so much gratitude bursting from my heart for my Biscuit and my father coming through all these illnesses.

Winter Critters Holiday Card https://www.craftypaws.us/winter-critters-holiday-card/ https://www.craftypaws.us/winter-critters-holiday-card/#comments Tue, 01 Nov 2016 10:33:00 +0000 http://www.craftypaws.us/?p=8597 I have to say that this year I was really sad to see Halloween come. That is, I had so much fun creating Halloween cards, it was sad to know that I had to move on to Thanksgiving and Christmas. It made me feel a little better to know that I had some super cute stamps from Stacey Yacula at Purple Onion Designs with which I could start holiday cards.

I decided to use Icicle, Puddles and Birch to start getting into the holiday spirit. I inked them up with MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink because I knew I wanted to color them up with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and practice a little watercoloring (I’m still a beginner and figuring things out, but I share my limited experience in the video below–hope it’s helpful to you). These are the colors I used:

20161031_170758-1Icicle: Light Grey (091); Turquoise Green (042); Geranium Red (029) with light pink in the ears and on his cheeks using a Tim Holtz Distress Spun Sugar (I couldn’t find my Light Pink (026), which I think would have worked similarly)
Puddles: Light Grey (091); Beige (072); Turquoise Green (042); Geranium Red (029) with light pink on his cheeks using a Tim Holtz Distress Spun Sugar
Birch: Light Brown (061); Brown (060); Florescent Pink (003); Turquoise Green (042); Geranium Red (029); and  Light Carmine (021) for blush
Ground: Light Grey (091) and Light Blue (036)

Next I ran a white card stock card base through my Big Shot with a Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder to create a kind of wintery frame. I used 4th largest of the Diemond Dies Nesting Oval Die Set to cut out an opening on the card front.  Then I used double sided foam adhesive to position the critters in the opening, recessed back just a tad from the card front.

Lastly, to add some wintery embellishments, I used the two smaller snowflakes from the Diemond Dies Winter Snowflake Die Set to die cut six snowflakes to cluster in the upper right and lower left of the frame. I heavily coated all the snowflakes with some Plaid Folk Art Extreme Glitter Acrylic Paint in Hologram to give them all a shimmery sparkly look to them. I also added a 1/4″ trim of hologram-painted card stock at the bottom edge of the card front to add a more finished, coordinated look.

Watercolored Critters for Bookmarks https://www.craftypaws.us/watercolored-critters-for-bookmarks/ https://www.craftypaws.us/watercolored-critters-for-bookmarks/#comments Mon, 12 Sep 2016 01:19:03 +0000 http://www.craftypaws.us/?p=8237 A wonderful crafty friend, Julie (YT: thriftypapergarder), has two daughters who are both starting as new third grade teachers. She has asked her crafty friends to make bookmarks so that her daughters can use them as little reading encouragement prizes for their students.

20160911_185427I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to get out a couple of the cute Art Impressions mini front and back stamp sets and my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and get my watercoloring on! I used the Art Impressions mini front and backs Cat & Dog Mini Set and the Bunny & Ducky Mini Set and the following Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers:

Dog: Light Gray (091), Brown (060), and Black (010)
Cat: Dark Pink (027) and Black (010)
Bunny: Flourescent Pink (003) and Gray Brown (094)
Ducky: Yellow (050) and Orange (070)

I fussy cut all the fronts an backs of the critters, and I made sure to ink the edges of the critters and also color on the backsides along the edges to make sure that any slight misalignments or white edges wouldn’t show. I think these types of details are important to keeping a clean and finished look to projects, especially in the case of using thick watercolor paper (I used Strathmore 140 lb watercolor paper) like I have here.

20160911_185357For the bookmark bases, I used kraft card stock and used Recollections clear embossing powder to create some shine and texture with the Lawn Fawn wood grain stamp from the Woodgrain Backdrops stamp set. I love how these bookmarks ended up looking like boards from a wood fence, and in addition to adding great depth and texture, the clear heat embossing made the bookmarks feel weighty and sturdier too.  And on the back sides of each of the bookmarks I added the following coordinating sentiments that I printed out on my computer that I matted with scrap pattern papers from my scrap box. I positioned them so that the critters looked like they were standing on them to peek over the fence boards.

Dog: “Outside of a dog, a book is a man’s best friend. Inside of a dog, it’s too dark to read.” — Groucho Marx
Cat: “Books, Cats, Life is Good.” — Edward Gorey
Bunny: Some bunny loves reading! “Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.” — Margaret Fuller
Ducky: “Just tell yourself, Duckie, you’re really quite lucky!” — Dr. Seuss

The following is a process start to finish video sharing how I made and colored up these bookmarks (there’s also a peak at tomorrow’s post):

It’s a RUFF Life: Marker Coloring Stamps https://www.craftypaws.us/gettin-ziggy-with-it-marker-coloring-stamps/ https://www.craftypaws.us/gettin-ziggy-with-it-marker-coloring-stamps/#comments Tue, 19 Jul 2016 14:27:44 +0000 http://www.craftypaws.us/?p=7951 I learned a fabulous technique of coloring stamps with markers at the Art Impressions booth at the Scrapbook Expo. They were using Le Plume markers (which I don’t have), but I thought Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers could work just as well, and I was right!

IMG_20160717_184807This started out as just some marker coloring play, but in the end the scrap I was coloring up was just large enough to eek out a CAS ATC (Artist Trading Card 2.5″ x 3.5″). The following are the colors I used to color up the adorable pups on this Art Impressions “Dog Stackers” stamp (top to bottom):

Chihuahua (top): Mid Brown – 065 with Light Pink (in ears) – 026
Mutt: Dark Gray – 095
Terrier: Beige – 072
Pomeranian: Bright Yellow – 052
Dachshund: Dark Brown – 062
Golden Mix: Oatmeal – 064 with Geranium Red (on tongue) – 029
Cocker Mix: Dark Brown – 065 and Beige – 072
I used Black – 010 for all the noses, eyes and the insides of mouths

The water coloring is a bit rough on this highly textured water color paper and my fat Pentel waterbrush, but I thought that added to the painterly look (or at least that’s what I’m telling myself LOL). To finish up the simple scene, I grounded the dogs by adding a floor (bear in mind I didn’t do the whole stack of dogs since my water color paper scrap was too small) and doodled some double lines and dots to frame out the image.

The following is a process video of coloring up this adorable doggy stamp (one of my new favorites!):
