Havanese stamp | CraftyPaws https://www.craftypaws.us "PAWS" and enjoy the journey! Fri, 10 May 2019 19:53:29 +0000 en-US hourly 1 Happy Mothers Day To the BEST Dog Grandma! https://www.craftypaws.us/happy-mothers-day-to-the-best-dog-grandma/ https://www.craftypaws.us/happy-mothers-day-to-the-best-dog-grandma/#comments Fri, 10 May 2019 19:38:53 +0000 https://www.craftypaws.us/?p=12285 I was thrilled when I discovered the adorable Clearly Besotted “Puppy Love” small stamp set that is loaded with 3 puppy images that look just like my Bandito!

I used Memento Desert Sand Ink to ink them up to try a bit of no line Copic coloring, and I really love the results. To color up the pups like my sweet Havanese, I used a Copic Multiliner in 0.3 pt to define the eyes and noses, a White Sakura Gelly Roll gel pen to add white fur texture, and the following Copic colors:
White fur: W0 and W2
Brown fur: E11, E13, E15, and E57

I fussy cut them out with my favorite Fiskars spring loaded reverse scissors. Then to highlight them, I mounted them with foam tape onto scraps of pale pink tone on tone damask patterned paper that I cut into pennant and mounted on dark pink shimmer card stock. The standing and sitting pups were positioned on the upper pennant and the pup ready to play was positioned on the lower.

I used 3 small wooden hearts from my stash and coated them with Hibiscus Pink Stickles for sparkle (I had to let these dry overnight) and glued a heart by each puppy. I cut off the shank of a metal bone button and it fit perfectly glued in with E6000 as an embellishment  in the gap created by the two facing pennants, between the 2nd and 3rd puppies.

I used the left over scraps of the damask paper and the dark pink shimmer card stock to create a simple liner for the card. I hand printed the sentiment, “Happy Mothers Day to the BEST Dog Grandma!” using a hot pink Permanent Fine Point Sharpie.

Sisters: Wonderful, Awesome, Sassy and Crazy! https://www.craftypaws.us/sisters-wonderful-awesome-sassy-and-crazy/ https://www.craftypaws.us/sisters-wonderful-awesome-sassy-and-crazy/#comments Fri, 08 Mar 2019 12:52:52 +0000 https://www.craftypaws.us/?p=12151 When I first saw the My Favorite Things “Friends at First Sip” I couldn’t believe my eyes! There was a cutie patootie pup that looked so much like my Bandito, a curly haired pup that looked like my sister’s mini Poodle, a girl that looked like my sister, and a girl that looked like it could be me (other than I have straight hair, not wavy). My sister and I are so close and talk multiple times a day. We share a love of dogs, value strong family ties, a fondness for nice purses, and tea and coffee. This stamp set was perfect for a CAS sisterly love card!

I used the following Copics to color this little scene of me and my sister and our fur babies:
Bandito (my spotted Havanese): W0, E50, E53, E13 with Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen fluffy fur details
Boomer (my sister’s fluffy mini apricot poodle): E21, E33, E23 with R27 tongue
Coffee cups: C0, C1, E13 and G29
Ground shadows: C2 and C4

Short haired girl (my sister): Skin: E000, E00, R20; Hair: B01, W3, W5, W7; Jeans: B91, B93, B95, B99; Shirt: B32, 0; Sweater: C2, C4, C6, C8, R05; Purse (with quilting and CC doodled in with a Copic Multiliner 0.03 pt Pen): C2, C4, C6, C8 and the CC logo with a Sakura Metallic Glittery Gold Gelly Roll Pen
Long haired girl (me): Skin: E50, E53, R20, Hair: B02, C4, C6, C8; Cardigan sweater and boots: C1, C2, C4, C6, C8; Purse (with chevron and CC doodled in with a Copic Multiliner 0.03 pt Pen) and striped dress: B91, B93, B95, B97, B99 and the CC logo with a Sakura Metallic Glittery Gold Gelly Roll Pen

Then I used the Concord & 9th “Sophisticated Script Stamp Set” to stamp out the word “sisters” (using a stamping tool is critical for this step so that repeated stamping and exact positioning is possible). For the inside liner, I printed from my computer, the following: “…are a Big Cup of WONDERFUL covered in AWESOME SAUCE with a Splash of SASSY and a Dash of CRAZY!”

Springtime Hello https://www.craftypaws.us/springtime-hello/ https://www.craftypaws.us/springtime-hello/#comments Thu, 12 Apr 2018 04:01:51 +0000 https://www.craftypaws.us/?p=10973 Hello spring! The weather here in Georgia has turned gorgeous, and I’ve got spring fever! Although my sweet 17+ years old Biscuit is too frail to go for walks, before the sweltering heat of the Hotlanta summer comes, I am taking full advantage of the perfect weather and taking long daily walks with our super cute Bandito (who is just shy of 6 years old).

To commemorate this moment in time, I created a card featuring Bandito popping out from behind a door, ready to jump out and go for a stroll. I created the card front using the IndigoBlu “Country House” Stamp and cut open the right side of the double doors with an X-Acto blade to create an opening for the happy-go-lucky pup from JessicaOriginals Shih Tzu Stamp Set.

I used the following Arteza Fineliner 0.4 pt Ink Pens softened with Arteza water brush to color up both the country house doorway and the pup (note, as the pens do not have names or numbers, I am providing descriptions I made up for the colors from the 72 pen set and you can get a better sense of the actual markers used in the video where I show the colored pen lids as I color):
Havanese pup: light gray, medium brown, tan with red and burgundy for the tongue
Door: burgundy, medium brown and tan
Glass in lamps and transom: light blue gray
Stone walls: dark gray, medium gray
Ivy: dark forest green, green and light green
Topiaries: medium green, citrus green, and lemon green
Boot scrapper and lamps: gold and yellow
COUPON: If you want to purchase any products at the Arteza Shop, you can get 10% off by using the coupon code: BOE-TOZ-460

I fussy cut the pup (shortening the ears to look more like my Bandito) and inked the edges with a Momento Tuxedo Black Marker and secured it with tape at the base and right behind the doorway. I popped the pup’s head up on double sided foam dots in front of the left door to create a little dimension and give the sense of the puppy actually coming out from the house. To reinforce the feeling of spring and add some unexpected texture, I also glued on a bunch of small resin nail art flowers to the two topiaries flanking the doorway. I also added Glossy Accents to the glass window above the door, the glass of the lamps, and the puppy’s eyes and nose for some shine.

For the sentiment, I used the Neat & Tangled “Out of the Box” Stamp Set. Above the door, I curved the sentiment, “Just popping up to say…” using the MISTI tool to echo the curve of the lunette above the double doors. Below the scene, I stamped the bold “Hello!” Lastly I mounted the card front on a black card base (I thought the black would add a crispness to the card) with fun foam to give the card a bit more dimension. I cut out the area of the open door from the fun foam before gluing it onto the back of the card front, and before gluing that mounted card front to the card base, I added a scrap of pink vellum to the area of the card base that would show through the open doorway to add just a hint of color without distracting from the already very busy scene.

Sending Puppy Love https://www.craftypaws.us/sending-puppy-love/ https://www.craftypaws.us/sending-puppy-love/#comments Wed, 04 Apr 2018 17:03:22 +0000 https://www.craftypaws.us/?p=10928 We have so many fluffy puppies in our family that when I saw the JessicaLynnOriginal Shih Tzu Stamp Set, I knew it was a “must have” for me (note she also has an slew of other AKC breed sets that are on my “wish list” like the “West Highland White Terrier” and the “Yorkie Yorkshire Terrier” sets). In our extended family, we have three Havanese, an Affenpinscher, a Havapoo, and two Mini Poodles.

For this card, I decided to combine three of the images from the   with the dies from the Diemond Dies Sending Love Die Set that I designed (FYI: a part of the proceeds of every die I designed is donated to no kill animal shelters). The three stamp dies from the die set were the perfect size to frame the three pups I Copic colored and fussy cut.

I used the following Copics to color up these pups like my Havanese, Bandito; my brother’s Havapoo, Cookie; and my aunt and uncle’s Affenpinscher, Naco:
Spotted Havanese: W0, W1, E11, E23, E25, R24 and R27
White Havapoo: W0, W1, W3 and R22 and R24
Black Affenpincher: W1, W3, W5 and W7
I also used my favorite Fiskars Spring Loaded Scissors to fussy cut all the pups so that just their heads would be popping out of the stamp frames and for the spotted Havanese and the Affenpinscher I shortened their ears from the original stamp images.

I used a pale blue card stock for the card base, and die cut the stamp frames from white card stock that I popped up with foam tape. I also lined the areas of the windows with some peach and coral patterned floral patterned paper from the 6 x 6 Crafts Sensations Pastels & Whites paper pack. For the sentiment, I die cut the “sending love” sentiment from the same card stock that I used for the card base three times. Stacking and gluing the die cut sentiments gave them a bit of dimension and made them feel substantial. I offset them in the lower, middle and right parts of the card front, lining up the “g” and “l” for what I thought was a nice, swooshy look (that’s a technical term – LOL). Lastly, I added a handful of clear silver sequins in three sizes for a bit of sparkle.

The inside of the card, I used one of the stamp dies to create a couple of heart embellishments with the same peach and coral floral patterned paper and some darker coral card stock. For one of the hearts, I also used the surrounding stamp die to create a stamp embellishment. The inside sentiment is a wooden stamp from My Sentiments Exactly that I picked up on clearance last week at Hobby Lobby. It says “Love begins with a wet nose and ends with a tail!” Unfortunately, since I moved my stamp when I was re-stamping for a darker impression, I had to cover the smear by re-stamping it on a separate piece of card stock and die cutting it out with a Kat Scrappiness Stitched Postage Stamp Edge Rectangles Die that more or less fit the sentiment. Whew – card salvaged!

CAS Christmas Puppy Card https://www.craftypaws.us/cas-christmas-puppy-card/ https://www.craftypaws.us/cas-christmas-puppy-card/#comments Thu, 17 Dec 2015 18:23:23 +0000 http://www.craftypaws.us/?p=6762 This card came together so quickly that I almost missed posting this share! I was rushing to make it to send along with the package of prezzies for my hubby’s grandmother, uncle and aunt (they own an affenpinscher-mix that looks so much like this pup).

20151215_131608I embossed some thick card stock with a polka dot embossing folder to give a little texture and interest to the white background. Then I rummaged through my pile of unused bits and pieces scrap box that had this pile of presents that I had drawn with a Copic multi-liner pen a couple months ago.

I colored the pile of presents in one of my favorite Christmas color combinations — red, green, aqua and silver — with the following Copic colors: Red: R05 and 29; Green: G05 and 16; Aqua: BG10 and 32; Silver: N1 and 3. I also used Sakura Gelly Roll pens in Metallic Gold and Clear Star to add sparkle and shimmer. I colored up the My Creative Time “Christmas Doggy” to make a black puppy, trying to make sure the face wasn’t too dark to see the adorable facial features: W3, 5, 7, 9.  The Santa hat was colored with R24, 29 and 39.

Then I added lots of special little details to the puppy. I added my new favorite faux fur/snow texture to the pom pom and hat brim with the DecoArt Snow Writer.  I added highlights to the eyes and nose with a white Sakura Gelly Roll pen.  Lastly, I used just a pinch of Glossy Accents to add shine to the tiny eyes and nose. It’s amazing all the teeny details we crafters can add to a stamped image! LOL Doesn’t he look like a little stuffed animal toy puppy sitting on top of a pile of Christmas presents? So cute!

“Pooch Patrol” Fall Layout https://www.craftypaws.us/pooch-patrol-fall-layout/ https://www.craftypaws.us/pooch-patrol-fall-layout/#comments Tue, 18 Nov 2014 01:35:54 +0000 http://www.craftypaws.us/?p=3952 For my 1 year YouTube Anniversary Challenge I received so many entries that I had to expand my pocket page album that I was using to hold all of them to a second volume. So I’ve been wanting to do another doggy layout to coordinate with one that I did at the end of September (HERE). This layout is going to be the first page of volume 2. 🙂

20141117_200827-1I started with the same star burst background and picked another stamped image that looked like me and Bandito. This stamp is by A Random Fan and is called “Wanderlust,” and I think it is absolutely adorable! I paper pieced the Vespa, the girl’s goggles, and the girl’s skirt and scarf using small scraps from my scrap box.  HINT: The key to creating a realistic look with paper piecing is to first color all the areas of the image that you are not going to paper piece. Then make sure you add shadows to those tiny paper pieces.  Fussy cut them out and then edge each piece with black marker (I use a Faber-Castell PITT artist pen in SB size to do the edging).  Finally adhere the paper piecing to the underlying image. The order of this process is important to create a finished look and not create any muddy areas; if you shade after edging the black marker may leach into the shaded areas.

20141117_200801-1Because there wasn’t a poodle I could add readily to the stamped image that would make sense, I used a white poodle sticker that I had from Sandylion Essentials, colored it up to look like my Biscuit, and added it to the layout as the main part of the the secondary cluster.  The Copic colors I used are: Skin: E50, 51, and 53 with R20 for blush; Vespa and goggle shading: C1 and 3; White shirt shading W1 and 3; Hair: C7, C9 and B32; Boots and Vespa tires: C5, 7, and 9; Brown and white dog fur: E23, E25, W1 and W3 with R20 for blush and tongue; and Poodle fur: E31 and 33.  I put a coating of Glossy Accents on the Vespa and the girl’s goggles and a lot of clear Wink of Stella on the heart puffs of exhaust to add some shine and shimmer.

The stamped image was relatively small for the layout and I wanted it to stand out from the busy background so I created a framed area using the Diemond Dies Labels 2 Nesting Die Set with some black card stock and wood veneer paper.  I love the way the wood veneer contrasts but reflects the faux bois patterned paper with the foiled gold in the background. To carry the golden elements throughout the layout, I also added little drops of gold Liquid Pearl around the black frame and added orange and champagne gold rhinestones in clusters around the layout.  Check out the SALE at Diemond Dies (through November 2014)!!! Currently everything in the store (except the latest release) is 10% off or more. The Labels 1 Nesting Die Set and the Fishtail Banners Nesting Die Set are 20% off. Plus if you use the coupon code: “thankskristina” you get and EXTRA 10% off of the sale prices and free worldwide shipping on orders of $35 or more!

I wanted to add some softness to the layout so I picked out three crocheted doily flowers in cream, which I layered with stickers, rhinestones, and/or tucked behind the main framed image. I also had fun picking out some dimensional stickers from the My Mind’s Eye’s Lost & Found “Record It” collection and the Jillibean Soup’s “Birthday Bisque” collection. Lastly I had some satin ribbon salutation banner doggy stickers by Offray that seemed perfect for this layout.  One says “Pooch Patrol” and the other says “Canine Companion.” How cute is that?

The following is a video share of this layout:
