dog lovers card | CraftyPaws https://www.craftypaws.us "PAWS" and enjoy the journey! Wed, 27 Jan 2021 15:11:38 +0000 en-US hourly 1 Personalized Family Portrait Birthday Card + GIVEAWAY! https://www.craftypaws.us/we-belong-together-dog-lovers-valentines/ https://www.craftypaws.us/we-belong-together-dog-lovers-valentines/#comments Wed, 27 Jan 2021 14:05:31 +0000 https://www.craftypaws.us/?p=13043 I’m so excited to share with you how I altered some stamps from the adorable The Greeting Farm “So This is Love” and “The Snuggle Is Real” stamp sets (this is a favorite – and the GIVEAWAY PRIZE) to personalize a special birthday card for Mr. CraftyPaws.

I used the boy and girl hugging image from “So This is Love” and just used the little boy facing toward the left to represent Mr. CraftyPaws. I altered him a bit more by doodling on short sleeves with a 0.05 pt Copic Multi-liner Pen since Mr. CraftyPaws would never wear a sleeveless shirt (lol). Then I stamped out just the little pup being held up by the girl with a braid from “The Snuggle Is Real” set to represent our little Havanese, Bandito, and tucked him in Mr. CraftyPaws’ arms.

For the girl representing me, I thought the girl with the glasses from The Snuggle Is Real would be the closest match. However, our Lhasapoo, Babaloo, does not look anything like the bulldog in that stamp. So I masked off the bulldog and doodled on the rest of the skirt of the little girl, adding details like the collar and long cuffed sleeves, with a 0.05 pt Copic Multi-liner Pen. For the dog representing Babaloo, I used the little dog with the bow from the same stamp set, but masked off the bow and doodled on a top-knot and shortened the ears and tail.

Then it was a matter of coloring up all the images to make them look like a family portrait!
Boy (Mr. CraftyPaws): Hair: E55, E57 and E59; Hat, Shirt and Shorts: B52, B93, B97; Skin: E50, E51, R30; Vest: B000 and B52
Brown and White Dog (Bandito): W0, E11 and E13
Black and White Dog (Babaloo): W0, W3, W5, W7 with B97 collar
Girl (Me): Hair: B01, C3, C5 and C7; Skin: E50, E51, E53. R30; Collar and Skirt: G05 and G09; Sweater: Y02 and Y08; Bone W0 and B01
To add a little shine, I added some glass streak marks on the glasses with a Signo Uniball White Gel Pen and topped the glasses with Ranger Glossy Accents. I fussy cut all the images with my favorite Fiskars Spring Loaded Scissors, inked all the edges for a finished look with a Memento Tuxedo Black Marker, and layered them together.

For the card front design, I decided to pull out one of my heart dies, the Diemond Dies Je T’Adore Heart, to “frame” the family portrait. I coated the frame with a coating of Clear Wink of Stella for some added shimmer. For the background papers, I used my much hoarded (and one of my FAVORITE) Doodlebug Designs “Puppy Love” 6 x 6 Paper Pad and picked out a heart patterned paper and used the reverse pale blue polka dot paper for a little strip of added interest. I backed that strip with white cardstock to match the width of the white border of the card front, and place that strip, toward the left side, following the design rule of thirds.

Lastly, for the sentiments I used the phrases from the cut apart pages of the Puppy Love paper pad that I thought would suit a Valentine’s Day card for Mr. CraftyPaws: “Great News…”, “I {heart} You” (with dabs of Glossy Accents on the hear), and “We Belong Together” are staggered along the left bottom third of the card front. On the inside card liner, I used, “Good Times!”, “Pawsitively Perfect!” and “You’re a Treat!” It was so fun designing and crafting this totally personal card for Mr. CraftyPaws. He’ll never know the extra steps I took to make this customized family portrait card, but I know he’ll love it all the same.

Happy Howl-idays from the Pack https://www.craftypaws.us/happy-howl-idays-from-the-pack/ https://www.craftypaws.us/happy-howl-idays-from-the-pack/#comments Fri, 18 Dec 2020 14:05:19 +0000 https://www.craftypaws.us/?p=12968 I know, I know, I am really behind. These are the first 2 holiday cards I’ve made this year.  It’s time to be realistic. Non-crafty friends and family, will be getting a family portrait card with some sticker embellishments. For the few crafty friends I have living abroad, I’m going to be mailing these cards tomorrow, and hoping they get to their recipients before the new year. LOL

For these two cards, I used the adorable pack of pups from the Mama Elephant “The Dog’s Woof” stamp set. For one card, I limited the coloring to a few of the pups in warm greys with red highlights for pops of color. Doing this spotlight coloring also saved a lot of time. 🙂
Warm Greys and whites: W1, W2, W3, W5, W7
Reds: R30, R24, R29

For the second card, I used the same warm browns and reds but added some warmer golden and brown tones to color up the entire pack:
Warm Greys and whites: W1, W2, W3, W5, W7
Reds: R30, R24, R29
Golden tones: E11, E21, E13, E23
Browns: E13, E15, E23, E25, E59
Uniball Signo White Gel Pen for highlights

For the small sentiments, I used the Art Impressions “Santa Paws Set” and then drew in speech lines with a Copic Multiliner Pen in 0.1 pt Black Pen and a ruler. I loved how using these 3 different sentiments: “Deck the Halls with Wow Wows!”, “Here Comes Santa Paws”, and “Happy Howl-idays!” in the otherwise blank top half of the card front adds interest and a kind of rhythm.

For the inside liners of the cards, I added two more pups from the Mama Elephant “The Dog’s Woof” stamp set to add a little extra somethin’ somethin’ to decorate the inside. I used a funny Picket Fence Studios sentiment from the “Inappropriate Christmas” stamp set for the main sentiment. I altered it a tiny bit using a Copic Multiliner 0.05 pt Black Pen by adding “paws” to the end of “santa” to make the sentiment read, “dear santapaws, is it too late to start being good?”

These single layer cards are relatively quick to craft and perfect to mail internationally (no bumps or extra weight). Hope you all are healthy, happy and well during this holiday season! Be safe and stay crafty. Big hugs, CraftyPaws

Woofing You a Happy Birthday! https://www.craftypaws.us/woofing-you-a-happy-birthday/ https://www.craftypaws.us/woofing-you-a-happy-birthday/#comments Sun, 05 Jul 2020 02:34:48 +0000 https://www.craftypaws.us/?p=12839 I absolutely fell in love with the Stampendous Dog Kissses Stamp Set, and I knew I wanted to craft a special card with the adorable pups in the set. I thought that my dad’s 86th birthday just around the corner, was the perfect opportunity to ink them all up.

I kept the card simple; making it a single layer card.  I used Strathmore Watercolor Paper and cut it down to 3.5″ x 8.5″, and simply inked up the line of pups on the slim line card card front with VersaFine Black Onyx Ink, which is safe for watercoloring. I then doodled on a rustic wooden fence with a Faber-Castell S Point Black PITT Artist Pen so that all the pups could look like they were jumping up over the fence from their yard into our garden to join in the party.

For watercoloring the scene, I used the following Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers with a Pentel Waterbrush:
Fence: Dark Brown (062), Mid Brown (065), Brown (060), Beige (072)
Golden Retreiver: Yellow (050), Beige (072)
Brown and White Pup (with my Bandito’s coloring): Light Brown (061), Brown (060), Beige (072), Light Grey (091)
Black and White Pup (with my Babaloo’s coloring): Beige (072), Light Grey (091), Dark Grey (095), Black (010)
Black Labrador: Light Blue (036), Dark Grey (095), Black (010)
Bulldog: Light Brown (061), Brown (060), Light Pink (026), Dark Brown (062), Dark Grey (095)
Tongues: Geranium (029), Wine Red (024), Dark Grey (095)
Sky: Light Blue (036)

I kept the inside card liner simple too. As if the dogs on the front were popping up to say, “Woofing You A happy Birthday”, I stamped the sentiment from the My Favorite Things Lucky Dog Stamp Set (retired). For an added “extra” I stamped out the little bulldog looking over his front paws on the bottom edge of the card liner to make it look like this pup was also peering in. The card base was cut from a navy blue card stock to nicely frame the card front.

DIY Wreath for Puppy Kisses & Birthday Wishes Card https://www.craftypaws.us/diy-wreath-for-puppy-kisses-birthday-wishes-card/ https://www.craftypaws.us/diy-wreath-for-puppy-kisses-birthday-wishes-card/#comments Sun, 02 Feb 2020 02:42:57 +0000 https://www.craftypaws.us/?p=12564 I had the idea to make my own wreath making template over a year and a half ago, but I only recently found the thick vinyl sheets that I had bought at the bottom of my cluttered craft closet (sigh). On the upside, this is an indication that I’m sticking to new year’s resolution to clean up my cluttered craft room-LOL! This template is made with Dritz non-slip vinyl sheets cut down to 6″ x 6″ and then 4″ squares are cut parallel with the sheet and also cut after shifting them 45 degrees. I used the super strong Arteza Cutting Blade which cut through the sheets like like hot steel through butter.

This card is made for my sister’s birthday, who absolutely loves her apricot poodle. The stamp sets I used for small doggy accessory stamps, sentiments, and the central puppy are below:
Honey Bee Stamps Playful Pups
Clearly Besotted Puppy Love
My Favorite Things You Make My Tail Wag
My Favorite Things Puppy Kisses
My Favorite Things Friends at First Sip

I stamped out a wreath of tennis balls, bone chew toys, paw prints, hearts, and a tiny “woof” to create an all puppy loved up card. Then used the following Copic colors for the doggy wreath and puppy:
Tennis Balls: Y11, Y08 and Y15
Dog: E51, E11, E15, with R27 tongue and W7 nose
Hearts: R27
Rawhide chew: E81 and E84
Bone squeeky toy: YR14, B01, B04 and B06 (with a doodled in patch drawn with a 0.5 pt Copic Multiliner Pen to indicate a toy rather than a real bone)

For the inside card liner, I used the sentiment from the Puppy Kisses stamp set, and then added a few hearts to add a little extra interest.

You’re DOGGONE Wonderful! https://www.craftypaws.us/youre-doggone-wonderful/ https://www.craftypaws.us/youre-doggone-wonderful/#comments Sat, 20 Jul 2019 21:15:34 +0000 https://www.craftypaws.us/?p=12417 I have been away on vacation with my parents, Mr. CraftyPaws and my nephew, and when I returned, I had so much to catch up on, that I really couldn’t get my crafty mojo going. Well, if you know me, then you might have guessed that nothing gets my crafty juices flowing like my favorite crafty inspiration — puppies, especially when they’re as cute as the Art Impressions Watercolor “Dogs Set” of stamps!

I gave each puppy distinct breed markings and did some quick animal print coloring with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers:
Yorkie Puppy: Black (010); Dark Gray (095); Beige (072); Light Brown (061); and Flesh (071)
Dalmatian Puppy: Black (010); Dark Gray (095); and Light Gray (091) with Geranium Red (029) for the tongue

Havanese (Bandito look-a-like): Brown (060); Beige (072); Light Brown (061); and Light Gray (091)
I also re-emphasized the eyes and noses with a Sakura Black Glaze Pen, fussy cut them all out with my Fiskars Spring Loaded Scissors, inked the edges with a Memento Tuxedo Black Marker, and glued down their bases and popped them up with double sided foam adhesive.

To spotlight each pup, I used the Poppy Stamps “Heart Trio Showcase” Die Set. I used it with a scrap of dark purple card stock, then with a scrap of lavendar scroll patterned paper, and lastly with a shimmery pink puffy textured paper. I inset the scroll patterned paper into the dark frames for a soft background, and popped in the pink hearts.

For the card front background, I dug around in my scrap box and found some beautiful loosely watercolored paper that I had created using Ken Oliver Color Bursts in Indigo and Ultramarine Blue. Then, applying the “Rule of Thirds”, I covered the bottom third of the card front with more of the shimmery pink textured paper. This had the benefit of brightening the card as well as repeating the paper used in the hearts for a cohesive look. For where the pink textured paper met the smooth watercolored background, I rummaged through my ribbons scraps and found a pink satin ribbon trimmed with delicate white lace that could be glued down with Beacon Fabri-Tac Adhesive. Then I decided that the pink satin ribbon area could use something more and tied 3 small pale pink satin ribbon bows using my Craft-Dee Bowz tool. I topped each of the bow centers with a lavender flat backed pearl to add even more shine and interest.

Because the back side of the card front looked a bit rough (the ribbon and lace trim was tucked around the back for clean side edges on the card front), I lined the back side of the card front with more of the lavender scroll patterned paper. The card base was made with another scrap of cardstock, this time in a rich aqua marine, and lined with a white card stock. The sentiment, You’re DOGGONE WONDERFUL” is from the MFT “Best in Show” stamp set. and I decorated the liner with scrap heart outline and heart inset left-overs from the textured pink and lavender scroll papers.

Valentine’s Puppy Love Card https://www.craftypaws.us/valentines-puppy-love-card/ https://www.craftypaws.us/valentines-puppy-love-card/#comments Thu, 14 Feb 2019 22:11:07 +0000 https://www.craftypaws.us/?p=12134 I haven’t been crafting for a while (due to time spent caring for my dad — who is doing amazingly well after his heart surgeries! YAY!), and last night I realized Valentine’s Day was today. I’m embarrassed to admit that I found myself without a card for my hubby at the 11th hour! I quickly went through my recent crafty purchases, and I am happy to say that I found the perfect little puppy critter stamps to create a special card for Mr. CraftyPaws.

I first used a Copic Multiliner 0.03 pt black pen to doodle on an extra spot around an eye of the puppy from the Penny Black’s “So Much Love” stamp set (this extra spot makes him look very much like our sweet little Bandito) and then I Copic colored up the image:
Spots: E21, E23, E25, E29
White fur: W0, W1 and Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen for added fur texture
Balloons: R20, R21, R22, R24, R27, R29, R39 with Clear Wink of Stella Pen for added shimmer and Cream and White Prismacolor Colored Pencils to emphasize the highlights.
I next fussy cut this image out with my favorite Fiskars spring loaded scissors and an X-Acto blade (for the inside between balloon and strings areas).

For the background, I die cut some white cardstock with the largest die from the Lawn Fawn Fancy Scalloped Circle Stackables Die, and I cut out two frames (that I stacked for added stability and to create a frame) with the same die and the 11th largest circle die from the Diemond Dies Die-Normous Stack-Ems Circle Nesting Die Set. But before I added the frames, I used a handmade arches stencil to blend on some clouds onto the background with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass. Then I glued down and popped up the balloons and the puppy’s left year on double sided foam dots to add dimension.

For the sentiment on the card front, I heat embossed “sending” from the Neat & Tangled “Better Together” stamp set with Ranger White Embossing Powder, and then I die cut the “Love” word die from an old retired Little Yellow Bicycle word die set (it had “love”, “laugh” and “smile”). I actually die cut the word 3 times and stacked them to match the depth of the framed image. The inside liner for the card was simply stamped with a “Be My Valentine” sentiment from the Penny Black “Key to My Heart” stamp set and the sweet dog image with outstretched paws.

What a Wonderful World This Would Be…. https://www.craftypaws.us/what-a-wonderful-world-this-would-be/ https://www.craftypaws.us/what-a-wonderful-world-this-would-be/#comments Wed, 05 Dec 2018 17:24:58 +0000 https://www.craftypaws.us/?p=11944 A dear crafty friend who is a fellow dog lover (Cathy aka on YT: Huckleberry Herbs and Art), is hosting a challenge asking folks to create anything they like related to the theme “Peace and Brotherly Love.” Recently, I saw this wonderful quote: “What a beautiful world it would be if people had hearts like dogs,” and I knew that would be the inspiration for my project.

I sketched out a peace symbol using some circle dies to help get the general framework and doodling an upside-down Y down the middle. Then using an old school Stamp-a-ma-jig, a Fiskars acrylic block, and Momento Tuxedo Black Ink, I stamped out the adorable puppies from the Mama Elephant “Little Dog Agenda” stamp set in the shape of that peace sign to create this single layer card.

I used the following Copic colors to bring all the pups to life and create the puppy peace symbol:
Black and grey dogs: W0, W1, W3, W5 and W7
Brown and tan dogs: E50, E51, E53, E55, E57 and E59
Rainbow of colors for accessories: R35, R37, YR04, YR07, Y11, Y21, Y19, G14, G17, B16, B18, C0
Blue dots to fill in peace sign: B000, B01 and B02
I also re-emphasized the puppy eyes and noses with a Sakura Black Glaze Pen

For the card liner, I printed the sentiment from my computer and simply stamped a couple of my favorite Little Dog Agenda puppies (the one offerings the bone and the heart) to flank the sentiment. To mat the card front, I used a beautiful shimmery dark blue card stock and then adhered the whole thing to a square kraft corrugated card base. I love how this non-traditional holiday card for dog lovers came out. 🙂

Crazy Cute Dogs! https://www.craftypaws.us/crazy-cute-dogs/ https://www.craftypaws.us/crazy-cute-dogs/#comments Thu, 15 Feb 2018 13:00:35 +0000 https://www.craftypaws.us/?p=10712 I had so much fun designing this card, chock full of crazy cute dogs from the IndigoBlu Duke’s Gang stamp set for my design team project for Topflight Stamps! I couldn’t let Valentine’s Day pass without honoring all of our adorable and much loved fur babies!

I stamped out each dog image 2-5 times, masking dogs in the front before stamping the dogs behind them all the way around my card front, which I cut down to 5 1/2″ x 3 7/8″. Because I didn’t want any dog to be next to any other dog that looked exactly the same, I ended up doodling to add extra fur, extend the lengths of the bodies, or adding spots to some of the dogs to keep the dogs looking different. I probably didn’t have to worry so much about maintaining the linear differences since I was Copic coloring them in a bunch of crazy colors, but it was fun to add the extra variety anyway.

I used the following Copic colors to make the rainbow dog pack:
Blue dogs: B12, B16 and B18
Purple dogs: V12, V15, V17 and V09
Yellow dogs: Y11 and Y15
Orange dogs: YR15, YR04 and YR07
Red dogs: R35, R37 and R39
Blue green dogs: BG11, BG13 and BG15
Violet dogs: RV02, RV04 and V04

I colored the background with pale blues: B000, B00, and B01. Then to add a little depth and make the dogs pop a bit more from the background, I used Prismacolor colored pencils in Electric Blue (PC1040) and Copenhagen Blue (PC906) to add some deeper blues to the nooks and crannies of the background. I also colored some of the dogs’ spots and ears with a Sakura Black Glaze Pen for some shine and subtle texture.

This left a perfect open space for a sentiment in the middle of the card front. But rather than make a single layer card, I thought it might be more interesting heat emboss a sentiment onto a vellum strip that I could wrap around the whole card front. Fortuitously, the “You are Pawesome” scripty sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp You Are Pawesome stamp set fit perfectly! I first prepped the vellum with the EK Success Powder Tool then I inked up the sentiment with VersaFine Black Onyx Ink. Then I used Recollections clear embossing powder to heat emboss and fix the sentiment in place on the vellum (ink tends to smear unless fixed like this).

I secured the vellum in place by securing it on the back of the card front with tape and then popped it up on a sheet of fun foam for some added dimension.  I found a strip of patterned paper in my scrap box that had “LOVE THIS” printed over and over and decided this would be a great way to accent the bottom of the card. To add a little shimmer, I also added a thin strip of silver glitter washi tape above this before adding the card front over top. For finishing touches and to hide where I tacked down the vellum a bit more, I added lots of sparkly silver sequins and tiny metal hearts.

The following is a process video of putting together the card (this does not include the stamping and coloring):

A House is Not a Home Without a Dog https://www.craftypaws.us/a-house-is-not-a-home-without-a-dog/ https://www.craftypaws.us/a-house-is-not-a-home-without-a-dog/#comments Wed, 18 Oct 2017 12:00:06 +0000 https://www.craftypaws.us/?p=10212 A dear crafty friend, Jude (YT: Hey Jude Cards) is celebrating her 1 year anniversary on YouTube with a week-long celebration (giveaways every day this week!). She and I share a passion not only for crafting but also for dogs, so the minute I met her I knew we would be friends. For part of her celebration, she has asked six of her friends (all the links are in the description box of my YouTube video) to participate in a YouTube hop with her. We could make anything so long as there was a dog theme. Each hop participant will be giving away a Dog/Cat Rescue Digi and on my hop stop, I will also be giving away the My Favorite Things Playful Pups Stamp Set (so please watch the video on YouTube and leave the answer to the question asked in the video in the comment section to be eligible).

The hardest part of this for me was trying to narrow down what doggy themed project I was I was going to create. After all, with a name like CraftyPaws, you can imagine how many doggy crafty goodies are in my stash. 🙂 I decided to do a process video sharing how to do a windowed card with the sentiment peeking out from inside as well as spotlighting adorable dog images from Katzelkraft’s Dogs Stamp Set by only coloring the pups in the scenes.

To first create the living room scene, I used the Joy Crafts “Home Sweet Home” stamp set (I love how these stamps have a sketchy drawn look similar to the Katzelkraft’s Dogs). I intentionally left the upper middle section empty to leave room for the sentiment window.

Then I used the 4th largest Simon Says Stamp Stitched Squares Die Set to die cut a window from the card front as well as a thin copy paper template. I then positioned the paper template on the inside right side of the card base and used my MISTI stamping tool to position the sentiment from Cloud 9 Design’s Dogs Sentiment Stamp Set that reads, “A HOUSE is not a Home without a DOG.” I then re-positioned the template the the outside card base front and die cut that window again. Provided I didn’t accidentally shift the die, the card front can now be positioned exactly over the card base front and the window opening should perfectly align so that the sentiment can be seen even from the front even before the card is opened.

Using Google images of Basset Hounds, Dalmatians, Huskies, and Dachshunds as references, I used the following Copic colors for these pups:
Basset Hound: W1, W7, W9, E23, E25, 100
Dalmatian: Collar, Tag and Tongue: B01, Y17, R24 and R27; Dalmatian: W7 and W9
Husky: Ears, Eyes and Tongue: R30, B01, R27 and R29; Husky: C1, C5 and C7
Dachshund: W5, W7, W9, E23, E25 and 100

I fussy cut all these pups out with Fiskars Spring Loaded Scissors and then inked the edges with a Momento Tuxedo Black Marker to hide the white edge of the cut card stock. Then it was a matter of positioning each pup into the scenes. I popped each of them up on double sided foam adhesive for a little dimension, but securely glued down their feet and some of their skinny tails with Art Glitter Glue (with a fine nozzle tip) so they could go through the post without fear of being damaged.

For two of the pups that were a little taller, I positioned the pups so they looked like they were popping into the scene from the foreground off the front edge of the card and cut off any overhanging parts. For the other two, I put them completely in the scenes and grounded them by adding shadows below them using a Copic C3 marker.

For 3 of the cards, I ended up adding an extra pup inside the card as well. This was primarily because I had underestimated the space needed for the die cut window in the living room scene and had had to cut the side of the over-hanging lamp. To make the card front scene look complete, I had to stamp the lamp inside the card as well. Then to make the lamp not look like an oddity, I added the extra pup as an accent to the interior of the card. I actually think these card interiors came out looking ok – sometimes mistakes create opportunities!

The following is a process video showing how to construct these cards, including a sampling of the Copic coloring as well (remember to leave the answer to the question posed in the video in the comment section of the video to be eligible for the prize):

Masculine Birthday Card for a Dog Lover https://www.craftypaws.us/masculine-birthday-card-for-a-dog-lover/ https://www.craftypaws.us/masculine-birthday-card-for-a-dog-lover/#comments Wed, 12 Jul 2017 20:12:49 +0000 http://www.craftypaws.us/?p=9818 My nephew is a summer baby (well, maybe not a baby — he’s turning 25 this week), and I wanted to make him a whimsical card with a line of dogs conga dancing, as he’s an avid dog lover (like his aunt). I made this monochromatic card by layering several patterned papers that I die cut out, and I stamped and fussy cut out puppies that were simply heat embossed, rather than Copic colored (my normal go-to).

The plaid papers I used came from an old DCWV paper collection called “The Alphabet Stack,” and I cut around the actual alphas on the papers so that the patterns could really shine (one of them is actually glittered). I used the smallest of the My Favorite Things Die-Namics Stitched Scallop Edges die set to cut out the background plaid layer, and I used the second largest of the My Favorite Things Die-Namics Stitched Rectangles STAX die set to cut out the background softer plaid pattern behind the pups. I also used the stitched rectangles die set to create a white card stock frame to set off the inner softer plaid background from the bolder dark plaid background as well as to frame the focal point dancing puppies.

For those puppies, I used Momento Luxe Tuxedo Black ink to stamp out the three smallest pups from the Penny Black “Man’s Best Friend” stamp set and used Recollections Clear Embossing Powder to give them a bit of shine and a slightly raised finish. I hand fussy cut all of them out with a tiny white border all around them. I also used Momento Luxe in Love Letter Red ink to stamp out a tiny butterfly from the same stamp set and used more clear embossing powder to give it a matching shine and finish. I thought it would be funny to add that last pup looking in the wrong direction, distracted by the butterfly (our dogs are often so easily distracted I knew my nephew would get a kick out of this). I popped all of these critters up on foam dots to add to the dimension and interest on the card.

I also heat embossed the sentiment on the card front that reads, “HOT Diggety DAWG,” which is from the CAS-ual Fridays Stamp Set called “Exclamations.” The inside liner sheet is made from left-over scraps of the patterned plaid papers, an extra dancing pup, and a birthday sentiment from the My Favorite Things “Lucky Dog” stamp set, which reads, “WOOFING YOU A HAPPY BIRTHDAY.”

The following is a process video, sharing how I made this card:
