Oh thank you so so much! Both of my pups are rescues and I’ve been volunteering at no kill shelters for about 5 years (3 years in NYC and 2 in GA). Unfortunately my hubby and I are allergic to a variety of animal danders and our older girl dog doesn’t get along with lots of other animals so fostering is not in the cards for us. In any event, I can’t imagine our lives without our two pups. I just wish everyone could know the love and joy that they could get from an adopted animal. And thank you so much for encouraging others to adopt a rescued pet instead of purchasing one. I’ve been working in rescue most of my adult life and if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that you can find the perfect pet in rescue! About 1/3 of dogs in rescue are purebred, too, so you don’t have to buy a dog to get the breed you want. Plus there are so many cute mixes, it’s possible to find that the right dog is actually a blend of breeds! 🙂 I adore my adopted pets, from my dog to my cats to my turtles to my gerbils, to my degus and foster hamsters–yep, all of those species…rescued! The rescue I foster for takes in all kinds of animals, including birds, rabbits, ferrets, reptiles, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, mice, gerbils, chinchillas and more. Shelters end up with all of those in their care…so if you or someone you know wants one, make sure to contact rescue and shelters. Too often people just don’t realize that these kinds of animals are in need of homes, too.
I’ve got to try your card design. It’s one of the coolest I’ve seen, anywhere!
