Bear-y Special Birthday Card | CraftyPaws

I’m a sucker for puns, so this pinkalicious teddy bear card with an inside sentiment that reads, “Wishing you a BEAR-y Special Birthday” was a no brainer for me. This is for my friend’s 7 year old daughter who loves all things cutsie. 🙂

I used the Stampin’ Up! “Baby Bear” layering stamp set and the Stampin’ Up! water-based dye inks in Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Chocolate Chip to easily stamp out the sweet teddy bear. Then I used a Sakura Black Glaze Pen and a Uni-Ball Signo White Gel Pen to better define the eyes and make them shine and pop (as compared to the teddy bear in my previous card HERE – I might have to go back and do the same for that card).

I die cut the image with a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Square Die Set and matted it with cranberry pink card stock. I next used a pink sprinkles patterned paper from the 2013 Authentique Sweetness Collection (retired), and used that as the background for the card front.

Before I layered the background patterned paper onto the card base, I laid down 3 pieces of pink ribbon around the background paper and tucking the ends to hide them between the card base and the background paper. Then I adhered the teddy bear image on top so the ribbon accents just showed along the edges. I know they barely show, but I love the symmetry, added interest, and the odd number of little stripes they form. This is a relatively simple card, but I think those types of little bits and bobs really reflect the crafty love put into handmade cards.

Lastly, I tied a tiny bow with the same pink satin ribbon that I used for the stripes for a “hair bow” for the teddy bear and another larger heart patterned ribbon bow placed below the whole teddy bear image. Can’t get any cuter, right? LOL I hope my friend’s daughter enjoys the card as much as I enjoyed crafting it for her.
