Summer Vacation in Edinburgh Scotland | CraftyPaws

As many of you know, I recently took a girls’ summer vacation trip to Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Ireland. I have a lot of photo sorting, editing and cropping to do before I get to work on the commemorative mini albums, but I couldn’t wait to dig in to memorializing the trip so I created this card.

The three girls, representing my sister, niece and me, are all from The Greeting Farm’s “Mini-Remix Happy” stamp set. I stamped all three girls out in My Favorite Things Black Licorice Hybrid Ink (which is both alcohol marker and watercolor safe) and also created masks so that I could overlap them a bit as well as stamp in the backgrounds.

I stamped the buildings from Crafty Individuals (a British stamp company) “Town House Rows” using more My Favorite Things Black Licorice Hybrid Ink and Katzelkraft’s “Clouds”, using Lawn Fawn’s Premium Dye Ink in Manatee (if you know anything about Scottish summers, you know that cloudy skies are par for the course). I thought these background stamps were perfect to create a scene similar to Edinburgh, Scotland, and I was so happy I had picked up both of these stamps before my trip from the U.S. online shop, Top Flight Stamps!

I used the following Copic colors to color in the girls and sky:
Sky: B000
Skin for all three girls: E51, E21, R20
Girl on left: Clothes: RV52, RV55, RV17, B01; and Hair: C7, C9, B01
Center Girl: Clothes: B01, B02, B06, Y08, YR15; and Hair: N7, N9, RV55
Girl on right: Clothes: B01, B02, B06 and RV17; and Hair and boots: C7, C9, B01.
I also added highlights stripes and polka dots to the girls using a Uniball Stabilo White Gel Pen and a Copic Multiliner Pen in 0.03 pt.

I was going to put them on a cobblestone street, and started drawing it out but ended up smearing it with the side of my hand (you can still see a bit of one smear in the sky in the center cloud, but I decided to pretend those little dots were a flock of birds flying in the sky in the distance — LOL) so I fussy cut the girls and background out and popped them up using craft foam to add a little dimension to a green polka dotted card base (just a scrap from my scrap box). I thought it was a good save. Plus, now when I add this card to a scrapbook layout (which is my current plan), I can add some private journaling notes inside the card that describes the silly summer fun we had on this once in a lifetime trip!

The following is a video sharing the card:
